The Jeep Compass is the first SUV launched by FCA in India and it is the most successful offering from the brand. It is doing decent numbers in terms of sale. Jeep has now announced additional warranty of two years or 1,50,000 km on the Jeep Compass SUV. This is over and above the standard warranty, which runs for 3 years/100,000 Kms. The extended warranty takes coverage to 5 year/150,000 Kms.
The new warranty extension is offered under company’s Mopar Extended warranty program. Jeep has confirmed that it can be availed by all existing and new Jeep Compass owners. For those who are not aware of Mopar, it is FCA’s international parts, service and customer care brand.
Under this new scheme the warranty is available on Jeep Compass’s Sport, Longitude, Limited variants at a cost of Rs 25,000, Rs 28,000 and Rs 32,000 respectively. This warranty scheme covers unexpected repairs including complimentary 24X7 road side assistance, it will also cover minor onsite repair, pilot error, fuel and battery assistance.
Key recovery, electrical and mechanical breakdown, accidental breakdown, taxi and towing facility, hotel benefits and return journey assistance is also part of the scheme. The extended warranty program is available at introductory prices till March 31st 2019.
It’s always advisable to opt for extended warranty if you intend to keep a vehicle for longer than the period for which the standard warranty is valid. An extended warranty will protect the owner from having to shell a very large amount of money in case of a major mechanical failure. More than anything, it’s like an insurance policy that will help when things go wrong. But be advised that you cannot modify the stock vehicle in any manner as such modifications will not just void the standard warranty but also the extended warranty.
Jeep Compass is sold with two engine options in India. The petrol variant gets a 1.4 liter turbocharged engine with 160 Bhp-250 Nm. The diesel engine is a 2.0L Fiat Multijet unit with 170 Bhp-350 Nm. The petrol powered Compass is sold only in front wheel drive whereas the diesel options get both front wheel and all-wheel drive systems.
Talking about the transmission both petrol and diesel variant get a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and the petrol variant offers a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission also. Jeep will soon be launching a new variant Trailhawk to the Compass line up.
It will be an SUV for the off-road enthusiasts with better approach and departure angle. It will get the same diesel engine but this time it will be mated to a 9-speed torque converter unit. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will get some additional features for better performance off the road. The Trailhawk variant is expected to cost around Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom. It’ll be the range-topping variant in the Compass line up.
