Ford Ecosport to get CHEAPER: Here’s how

The Ford Ecosport is among the popular sub-4 meter SUVs in India. It rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon among others in the segment. Due to the stiff competition from new entrants like the Hyundai Venue, Ford has updated the variant lineup of the Ecosport in India. This has resulted in the price reduction of the Titanium variants by around Rs. 45,000-50,000, which is a substantial amount. Also, the company will bring in a new variant known as the Ecosport Thunder about which we told you a couple of days back.

According to Autocar India, the Ford EcoSport Titanium+ will see a price reduction by around Rs 45,000-50,000. However, a number of features will be taken away from the car to achieve this. The features that will no longer be available on the Titanium+ variant include cruise control, leather seats and Sync3 infotainment system. While the features omitted are substantial, the price decrease could compel more people to buy the Ecosport which is the prime focus of Ford right now.

Apart from the omission of features, the interior theme will be switched to black-beige instead of black as on the variants till now. It will get a large 9.0-inch FlyAudio infotainment system along with a sunroof and new side decals. The engine and transmission options will be the same and will not be affected by the update. The engine options include a 1.5-litre petrol unit with both manual and automatic transmission along with a 1.5-litre diesel engine with manual transmission only.

The updated Ford EcoSport Titanium will also get a few cuts. This includes the sunglass holder and the centre armrest for the rear passengers. Further, this variant will also come with beige interiors instead of an all-black theme like on the current car. As for the engines, the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine will be available on this variant, both of which are mated to a manual gearbox.

Joining the lineup will be the new EcoSport Thunder variant. It will come with FlyAudio infotainment system with a 9.0-inch touchscreen, dual-tone leather interior, rear spare wheel cover, sunroof, new-look alloy wheels, contrast black roof and black decals on the hood. It replaces the Titanium Signature edition that came with fabric interior and sunroof. The Thunder variant will get either a 1.5-litre petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel engine, mated to a manual transmission.

Whether or not will the top-spec EcoSport S continue is something that is not confirmed yet. Going by what sources say, Ford might introduce a new and more loaded top variant that will have better price-feature proposition. Ford is also working on the Ecosport replacement vehicles which shall see light of the day in 2020.
