The used car market in India has grown multiple folds over the recent years. In fact, it is still growing at a fast pace and is expected to overtake the new car market in the coming years. The Jeep Compass, the most affordable Jeep branded vehicle in the Indian market was launched in 2016. The mid-size SUV has gained a lot of popularity in the market and has also found its way to the garage of the celebrities. A brand new Jeep Compass will cost you Rs 15.45 lakh, ex-showroom in Delhi, which turns out to be around Rs 18.18 lakh, on-road. An expensive affair, we say.
However, went on to look around to find Jeep Compass SUV in the used car market and to our delight, we have found what it looks like the most affordable Jeep Compass that you can buy in India. The listing on Droom is from Jaipur and the owner wants to sell the 2017 model of Jeep Compass. It is a pretty new vehicle with only 45,000 km on the odometer. It is only owned by a single owner until now.
The Jeep Compass listed on the website is priced at Rs 12.5 lakh, on-road. It is the Sport variant, which makes it around Rs 6 lakh cheaper than a brand-new Jeep Compass. The Sport variant is the base variant of the Compass.
Powering the vehicle is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum of 160 Bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. The base variant is only offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, people can also choose the 7-speed automatic transmission available with the petrol engine. The car is being sold by a verified seller on the website, which ensures that it is a valid listing.
In comparison, India’s largest selling Utility Vehicle, Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s top-end version is priced at Rs 12.62 lakh, on-road, Delhi. The price is for the Delhi state and the variant we are talking about is the ZDi Plus AMT dual-tone version. Yes, with the Brezza, you do get AMT automatic transmission and a diesel engine but Jeep is a much more established brand when it comes to the SUVs. Nonetheless, it is a choice one has to make.
It should be noted that Jeep also offers diesel engine options in the Indian market. There is a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 170 Bhp and peak torque of 350 Nm. Currently, the diesel engine option is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission but soon Jeep will launch the Compass Trailhawk, which gets a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with a low-ratio transfer case. It is a much more capable variant of the Jeep Compass and will be the most expensive variant too.
