Mahindra Scorpio Base Trim: Walkaround video review

Mahindra Scorpio, it was launched in 2002 and ever since then it is one the most popular SUVs in the Indian market. Over the years competition grew in its segment, but it still has a decent amount of following in the market. Mahindra Scorpio over the years has changed a lot in terms of design and the features it offers. Recently with the latest facelift in 2019, Mahindra introduced an new base trim S3 which is the most affordable Scorpio. Here we have a small video that shows what does the S3 trim of the 2019 Mahindra has to offer.

The video has been uploaded by The Rajat Vlogs on his Youtube channel. Video starts by showing the exteriors. S3 trim of the Scorpio gets no chrome inserts on the front grille like in the higher trims. The headlight units do not get projectors and the hood scoop is not functional. This trim also gets a black bumper with provisions for fog lamps. The body coloured bumpers are available in higher variants.

Coming to the side profile, Scorpio S3 continues to get the black cladding which matches with the front bumper. It runs on 15 inch steel wheels without any wheel caps. The mirror is also is black and does not get body colour. It misses out on roof rails and body coloured door handle bars as well. At the rear things remain plain and simple with black bumpers, LED taillights and no spoiler.

Mahindra Scorpio Base Trim Featured

Interior of the Scorpio variant is very basic. It misses out on features like bottle holders on door pads, no infotainment system and so on. On the plus side even the base trim gets rear AC vents, and power windows and lots of other storage spaces. The S3 trim is gets fabric upholstery whereas the higher trims get a mix of leather and fabric material. The S3 trim gets Bench seats on the last row which makes it a 9-seater. The Scorpio is available in 7,8 and 9 seater set up. The S3 trim also gets dual airbags and ABS as standard which makes it decently equipped in terms of safety features.

The engine used in S3 trim is a 2.5L turbocharged diesel engine that produces 75 Bhp and 220Nm of peak torque. It gets a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard and is only available in a 2WD set up. The higher variants however get 4WD. Mahindra is currently working on a new Scorpio, along with Thar and XUV500. They all will also get a set of new 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine that will be BS6 compliant.
