manufacturers around the world are now moving more and more towards hybrid and electric vehicle. Here in India, trend is no different in the last 6 months we saw the launch of three new Electric vehicles in the market. First one was the Hyundai Kona EV, followed by MG’s ZS EV and finally the all-new Tata Nexon EV that recently got launched. It is the first electric compact SUV from the manufacturer. Now after the launch of the EV, Tata Motors has released a TVC for the all-new Nexon EV.
The video shows basically focuses on how powerful Nexon EV is. It is depicted by the reaction of the co-passenger in the car that goes from ‘oh to woah’ everytime the car picks up speed. This is because of the torque rich motor of the Nexon EV that puts out all the torque from the word go without any judder or lag. It is even very exciting to drive and that is exactly shown in the TVC.
The Nexon is based on the regular Nexon which is one of the safest comapct SUVs in the segment that has a 5 star rating in Global NCAP crash test. Dimension-wise and design wise it is similar to the regular Nexon. It gets electric blue accents on the air dam, fog lamp area, waist line, grille and the rear that differentiate it from the regular Nexon.
Tata Nexon gets a 30.2 Kwh high capacity lithium-ion battery which is connected to a permanent magnet motor at the front. The motors generates a maximum of 129 Ps of power and 245 Nm of peak torque which makes people go from ‘oh to woah’. The Nexon EV has an ARAI certified range of 312 km which means we could expect a real world range of around 250-275 km depending upon the usage. Nexon takes around 60 mins to charge 80 percent of the battery using a DC charger whereas the AC charger takes around 8 hrs.
Tata Motors recently revealed the price of the EV and it is definitely cheaper than it’s competition. Nexon EV is available in 3 trim – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. The XM is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh, XZ+ at Rs 14.99 lakh and XZ+ Lux which gets leatherette seats, electric sunroof, auto headlamps and wiper is priced at Rs 15.99 lakh. Tata Motors’ wide reach across India in terms of dealerships and service centers will be a major selling point for this electric vehicle.
