MG Motors made their debut in the Indian market last year with their mid-size SUV Hector. Hector became popular among buyers within a very short period of time and still has a long waiting period. It became popular mainly because of the premium look, dimension, space and the features it offered at that price point. It was India’s first SUV to get connected car features. It currently competes with cars like Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and Kia Seltos in the segment. The competition is getting stiffer with manufacturers coming up with updated models in the segment. Here we have a video that shows how the MG Hector would look like, if MG plans to give it a facelift.
The video has been uploaded by BM Automotive Design on their youtube channel. Video starts by making changes to the front of the Hector. The front design of the Hector has been completely redesigned and it retains the DRL on the top but they look more sharper than before. Shape of the grille has also been changed. It gets a design that looks like the alphabet ‘X’ with chrome border line highlighting it. The grille still gets the mesh grille with MG logo at the centre.
The ‘X’ shaped chrome insert is similar to the one found in Mitsubishi’s Xpander MPV. The Headlight design has been completely changed and it looks like they are all LED now. Below the headlight towards the lower portion of the bumper is where the fog lamp is placed. The front of the MG Hector already had a premium appeal to it but, with this new front end it now looks premium and aggressive at the same time. It could be the direction MG takes for future iterations of the Hector.
Other changes include a new design for the alloy wheels and a redesigned rear with Spoiler integrated in the body of the Hector. Apart from that everything else remains unchanged in the Hector. One thing that should be kept in mind is that MG has no plans to launch a facelift for Hector anytime soon and this is just a speculative render. MG Motors will be launching a 6-seater version of Hector known as Hector Plus, a full-size SUV MG Gloster and a luxury MPV MG G10 in the future. The British brand, currently owned by the Chinese, is also planning electric cars for the Indian market.
