Mahindra XUV500 BS6 launched: Prices revealed

Mahindra has been constantly updating their line up in the country with BS6 updated engines. Recently it launched the BS6 version of their flagship luxury SUV Alturas G4 in the market. Now Mahindra has launched BS6 version of the XUV500 SUV. The price for the BS6 updated Mahindra XUV500 now starts at Rs 13.14 lakh, ex-showroom. As Expected, the price of XUV500 has been increased due to the BS6 update. The BS6 compliant version of the XUV500 is almost Rs 23,000 more expensive than BS4 version.

Mahindra has made couple of changes in the trim levels with the BS6 version. XUV500 is no more available in the base W3 trim with the BS6 engine. The XUV500 is now available in W5, W7, W9 and W11 (O) trims only. The Mahindra XUV500 was available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Due to low demand, the petrol variant was discontinued from the market last year.

The XUV500 now gets a 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel engine that 155 Bhp and 360 Nm ofpeak torque. The AWD version of the car has also been removed and is now only available in a 2WD set up. Price for the BS6 XUV500 now starts at Rs 13.14 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.64 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).

Design-wise the BS6 version does not have any changes. It looks the same as before with chrome inserted wide front grille, projector type headlamps, diamond cut alloy wheels and so on. On the inside, XUV500 gets a premium looking interior with leather wrapped seats and steering wheels, touchscreen infotainment system, Arkamys sound system, Blue sense connected technology, cruise control, electric sunroof and so on.

On safety front, XUV500 has ABS, EBD, upto 6 airbags, ESC, HSA and Hill descent control. There is a possibility that with BS6 update Mahindra might consider relaunching the diesel automatic version that was discontinued before. Mahindra is also working on a brand new next-generation XUV500 and has been spotted testing couple of times. Along with XUV500, Mahindra is also working on all-new Thar, which will be launched post the Corona Virus lockdown. The all-new Thar off-roader will share its platform and engine with the new Scorpio, which will make its official debut in 2021. It’ll be a lot more comfortable than the first-generation model, and pricier as well.
