Tata Sumo is an iconic name in the Indian car market. The rugged and highly reliable people mover has remained a trusted workhorse in most difficult places in the country. Tata discontinued the Sumo after 25 years of production. The Sumo was first launched in 1994 and since then, it has become extremely popular in the market. Currently, there are no plans to re-introduce the Tata Sumo at the moment but Tata may bring back the iconic nameplate in the future. Here is an artist rendering of the Tata Sumo that imagines how the MUV may look like if it ever makes a comeback in the future.
The Tata Sumo has always offered a straightforward boxy design and this futuristic vehicle follow a similar language but with a modern touch. The future Sumo gets a g0ood looking front-end that looks heavily inspired by the Tata Harrier and the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The other bits like the body of the vehicle is very much inspired by the Evoque. The rear looks like the Ford Endeavour.
Overall, this is a purely imaginative rendering and is something that is made by an artist. Tata showcased the Sierra concept vehicle at the 2020 Auto Expo, which attracted a lot of people. Tata said that the Sierra nameplate may come back in the future but they do not have a plan on the comeback yet.
Tata’s has a few iconic discontinued vehicles in India including the Safari, the Sierra and the Sumo. Tata earlier said that they will keep the Safari moniker alive with the future cars in India. Tata showcased the Hexa Safari Edition at the 2020 Auto Expo, which will be launched in the Indian market later year.
Tata is also working on a slew of all-new cars that will be launched in the Indian market soon. The manufacturer will start with the 7-seater Gravitas, which will be similar to the Harrier in terms of design, features and powertrain. Later this year, the manufacturer will also launch the all-new HBX entry-level crossover that will take on the likes of Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and similar cars. Tata showcased the HBX at the 2020 Auto Expo too and the design received a lot of appreciation from the onlookers. Tata is also working in the sedan version of the Altroz, which will be launched by later 2021 or in 2022. The all-new sedan will take on the likes of Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the Indian market. The manufacturer will also launch a mid-size SUV that will take on the likes of Creta in the future.
