Hyundai’s marketing head gives you a video tour of the all-new, 2020 i20

Hyundai recently launched the BS6 compliant Elite i20 in the Indian market without the diesel engine and automatic transmission in India. However, soon, the all-new Elite i20 will be launched in the Indian market and the global market. Hyundai has already started testing the car on the Indian roads and it will slightly different from the global version. However, the overall design of the Indian-spec i20 will be similar to the global version. Here is the first walkaround video of the car by Raf Van Nuffel, Head of Product Marketing and Pricing, Hyundai Motor Europe.

Even though this is a European spec car, the Indian version will not be much different from this vehicle. It will have a few tweaks like different rear windows and a few minor changes here and there. But overall, the Indian and the European spec cars will look almost the same.

The all-new Hyundai Elite i20 is based on Hyundai’s new design identity, which is known as the Sensuous Sportiness. The front-end of the car gets sharp design lines with a new grille and large triangular fog lamp housings. The headlamps are sleek and have integrated DRLs. The bonnet also has strong creases that add to the sporty design

On the side, the new Hyundai Elite i20 gets wedge-style design and the creases can be seen converging towards the end of the C-Pillar. The C-Pillar has an angular glass that gets chrome boundary. Just behind the chrome element, there is a glossy black element and the amalgamating of the elements look extremely good. The car also gets a shark-fin antenna that adds a premium look.

At the rear, the car gets sharp-looking tail lamps and there is a light bar that connects both the tail lamps. There is a glossy black part running above the light bar. The tail lamps themselves look very premium too and have i20 embossed inside. The new i20 will be available in ten colours including new dual-tone versions. However, the Indian market may get a different set of colours.

The cabin is completely different and it gets wide AC vents that run across the dashboard. There is a floating type infotainment system that will get the BlueLink system too. The Elite i20 will get the all-digital dials and there is a large Driver Information Display. It is a 10.25-inch screen. The steering itself is new and offers a lot of buttons.

Hyundai has always been known for features and the new Elite i20 will be no different. It will offer features like wireless charging, sunroof, drive modes, wireless Apple CarPlay, and more. Safety-wise, the European version will come with a lot of new features but the Indian version is expected to get ESP, 6-airbags, traction control, ISOFIX seats, and more.

The all-new Elite i20 in India is expected to get the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine alongside the 1.2-litre VVT naturally aspirated engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Hyundai is expected to introduce the 7-speed Dual Clutch automatic transmission with the new Elite i20 in India. The DCT will be available with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol while the other two engine options will also offer different automatic transmission options.
