Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest car manufacturer and they sell their cars via Arena and Nexa chains of dealerships across the country. The Maruti Ignis, which is small premium hatchback, is sold via the Nexa line of dealerships, and has now received a minor update in terms of features that it offers. Maruti Suzuki launched the updated BS6 version of this hatchback earlier this year at the expo, and now the automaker has announced that the Zeta trim of the Ignis will get with a factory fitted touchscreen infotainment screen called Smartplay Studio.

The Zeta trim of Ignis is the variant that sits right below the top-end Alpha trim. The Zeta trim was offered with a 2-Din audio system earlier. The touchscreen which will be offered with Zeta trim comes with number of features. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and can also be used to get the feed from the reverse parking camera if that feature is fitted.

Apart from this addition nothing else has changed in the car. It still gets the same set of alloy wheels, steering mounted control, rear windscreen wiper with washer and so on. The BS6 version of the Ignis got a revised look on the outside. The front bumpers were revised to give it an SUV like look. The front grille on this SUV was also redesigned. The lower part of the bumper comes with a faux skid plate and similar changes can be seen in the rear bumper as well.
On the inside, pretty much everything remains the same. The Zeta trim will now come with a touchscreen infotainment screen but, still miss out on features like automatic climate control and projector LED headlamps and DRLs. The price for updated Zeta trim with touchscreen is Rs 5.98 lakh, ex-showroom for the manual version. It is available with an AMT gearbox and it is priced at Rs 6.45 lakh, ex-showroom. The updated models are almost R.s 9,000 more expensive than the versions without touchscreen. The Maruti Ignis is powered by a BS6 complaint, 1.2 litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 83 Ps and 113 Nm of torque. As mentioned above, this engine is available with both manual and AMT gearbox options. The car is the least priced offering in the NEXA chain, and is aimed at first-time buyers.
