New Mahindra Thar modified with 20 inch tyres looks HOT

Mahindra Thar is one of the SUVs that created the most hype in 2020. Everyone was excited to see it on the road and everyone wanted to drive it. The previous generation of the Thar was one of the vehicles that have seen the most number of aftermarket customization options available. This is due to the fact that everyone wanted their Thar to be unique. It is very rare that you can find a previous generation stock Thar.

Now, the after-market options for the new 2020 Thar has also started developing. Currently, Thar is offered with two-wheel sizes, there are a 16-inch one and an 18-incher. The lower variant gets 16-inches wheel size while the upper variant is equipped with 18-inches wheel size.

However, the Thar here is equipped with massive 20-inches. Even the spare wheel of the Thar is changed for a 20-incher. The owner has also upgraded tyres which could fit on those 2020 alloy wheels. The photos have been uploaded by Velocity Tyres on their Facebook page. In the stock form, Mahindra offers Ceat tyres with the Thar. The SUV featured here is a soft-top variant due to which the side profile resembles the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon Cabriolet.

Usually, people who go off-roading doesn’t opt for massive rims, they go for steel rims because if the wheel is big, there is more chance of you kerbing it by rocks when you are off-roading. However, it looks like that the owner of this Thar won’t be taking the Thar for off-roading that is why he has opted to upgrade the wheels.

This is the mHawk 2.2-litre diesel engine version of Thar which produces 130 Bhp of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. There is also a mStallion 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine available which produces 150 Bhp of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox for those who need the convenience of driving an automatic transmission. Both the engines also offer a proper 4×4 transfer case with low range gearbox for off-roading.

Mahindra’s 2020 Thar has already crossed 20,000 bookings due to this the waiting period for the Thar has crossed seven months. According to Mahindra 57 percent buyers are buying the Thar for the first time in their life. So, it will be interesting to see what their opinion is on the new Thar.

Mahindra has already ramped up the production to 3,000 units per month to meet the high demands of the Thar. The hard-top variant of the Thar is more in demand than the soft-top one. Mahindra is currently delivering 1,000 units of the 2020 Thar daily to the customers and they have plans to increase the demand by 30 percent by January 2021. Mahindra 2020 Thar is priced from Rs. 9.80 lakhs ex-showroom. The lower AX trims are currently not in production as Mahindra is aiming to first clear backlog of high-demand variants.
