Nissan Magnite compact SUV to get turbo petrol engine: Details including mileage REVEALED officially
Later this month, Japanese automaker Nissan will launch its first sub-4 meter compact SUV – the Magnite – in India. Based on the CMF-A platform that it shares with the likes of the Renault Triber and Kwid, the Nissan Magnite will be the most affordable SUV in the automaker’s line-up not just in India but in many other emerging markets across the globe. Nissan has just dropped details about a spanking new turbo petrol engine that the Magnite – a petrol-only compact SUV – will feature.
The newly developed engine gets a 1 liter-3 cylinder layout, and is turbocharged. The motor makes 100 PS of peak power and 160 Nm of peak torque. Notably, the same engine will be seen on Renault’s upcoming sub-4 meter compact SUV called the Kiger, and also its existing compact MPV – the Triber. Nissan claims that the engine on the Magnite will offer a mileage of 20 Kmpl, which is a best-in-class figure. This engine will be offered with two gearboxes: a 5 speed manual and a CVT automatic with a step shifting manual mode. The engine is said to be engineered in Japan but will be completely built in India.
Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, had this to about the new engine for the Magnite:
