2020 Mahindra Thar with new grille & bumper looks like a Jeep Wrangler

Mahindra launched the all-new Thar on 2nd October 2020 and the demand for the new SUV has gone through the roof. While Mahindra is working on reducing the waiting period on the all-new Thar, there are many who have started modifying their vehicles. We showed you a few modifications done on the all-new Thar in the past. Well, here is a new one that looks exactly like the Wrangler with the 7-slat grille at the front.

The modification job is done by Taran Bimbra of the Bimbra 4X4. While there are a few designs made by them in the last few weeks, this one is the latest. The biggest change in the vehicle is its front grille. A new seven-slat grille replaces the stock grille. The new addition does look quite premium and makes the vehicle look like a Jeep Wrangler.

Complementing the new grille is the new bumper. It is sleeker than the stock version and adds a sporty and aggressive touch to the Thar. The post says that this is made up of steel but new Fibre-reinforced Plastic (FRP) bumpers will be out soon. FRP bumpers are much lighter and are safer for road use. Steel bumpers are illegal and banned in India.  A functional skid plate has been added to make it more rugged.

A 50-inch LED bar is installed on the top of the windscreen. Smaller LED bars are also available. This particular Thar gets 39.5-inch Bushranger VLI LED bar in the middle and small 5.5-inch bars on the side. It is a bolt-on fix and can be removed whenever needed. Also, the Thar gets new headlamps. The new headlamps are more powerful than the stock.

This Thar also gets side-steps that are made up of metal. It gets Line-X coating that adds a strong coat to the metal and keeps it from oxidizing. Even the side-steps are bolt-on and there is no need to alter the vehicle. There is also a rear two hook that can be used for quick recoveries or towing other vehicles. On the inside, the vehicle gets a CB radio, which is used to communicate with others in a convoy. There are front and rear armrests to make the vehicle more comfortable.

The price for these updates and changes is not known. The seller has mentioned that these products are not on sale yet. However, they will soon start the production of these modified parts and will announce the price of these parts too. There are many other different parts and types of grilles developed by Bimbra 4X4. You can check them their official website.

Is the warranty intact?

Since all the products are bolt-on and do not require any kind of drilling or changes to the structure, they are legal. However, additions like the LED bar lights may require electrical changes, which can void the electrical warranty. It should be noted that the dealerships have the power of warranty claim and most dealerships do not say much when they see such changes. But it is always a good idea to ask the service centre first before going for such electrical changes in the car.
