Mahindra is working on a lot of SUVs for the Indian market. The line-up of Mahindra mostly consists of SUVs. They are launching all-new generations of some of the new SUVs, some of the SUVs will be getting facelifts whereas some of them will be getting new engines and transmissions. Mahindra already launched the new generation of Thar that is a big hit in the Indian market. The booking period for the Thar is now around 9 months! Today we list down all the new SUVs that Mahindra is going to launch in 2021 and there are quite a lot of them.
XUV500
The XUV500 has been spied numerous times on the Indian roads and it has created a lot of excitement among the people of India. It will come with a redesigned set of LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, LED tail lamps and new bodywork. The new redesign will look more muscular than the current XUV500. There are also rumours of the 2021 XUV500 getting ADAS features and it has been confirmed that it will come equipped with a panoramic sunroof. Then there will be a dual horizontal screen setup where the centre one will be a touchscreen infotainment system that will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay whereas the other screen will be the digital instrument cluster. The new SUV will feel more premium and plush than the current one. It will be offered with a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The petrol engine will produce 190 PS and 380 Nm whereas the diesel engine will produce 180 PS and 380 Nm. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. There should also be an option of a 4×4 powertrain with the top-end variant. The price of the XUV500 is expected to start from Rs. 13.8 lakhs ex-showroom and it will be launched in mid of 2021. The XUV500 will be competing with the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Hyundai Creta 7-seater.

Scorpio
Mahindra will be launching the all-new generation of Scorpio in the second half of 2021. It will have bigger dimensions than the current one and will be based on a reworked ladder frame chassis so it would ride and handle better than the current generation. It will get dual LED projector headlamps with C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps placed in the lower half of bumper. It will also get the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine in a lower state of tune. The diesel engine will be producing around 150 PS to 170 PS of max power with a torque output of 320 Nm. The diesel engine is expected to put out close to 140 to 150 PS of max power with a torque output of 350 Nm. Both the engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Mahindra will also offer the Scorpio with a 4×4 drivetrain which will be a competitive advantage over the rivals like Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Hyundai Creta. The Scorpio is expected to start from Rs. 10 lakhs ex-showroom and go all the way upto Rs. 16 lakhs.
TUV300 Facelift
The TUV300 has been caught testing on the Indian roads on some occasions. There are subtle changes to the exterior of the SUV. Mahindra is expected to increase the feature list that is offered with the TUV300 so that it is more attractive than before. It will continue to get the 1.5-litre diesel engine and it is expected to start from Rs. 9 lakhs ex-showroom.
Bolero Neo
Bolero has been on sale for many years but it is still an SUV that is in demand because of its reliability. The Bolero is still the preferable SUV in remote areas. The Bolero Neo will be based on a new ladder-frame chassis which should help in improving ride quality. The design of the SUV will continue to be upright but it will get a few modern touches with some updated equipment list. It will be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine and will hit the Indian market by the end of 2021. It should be priced around Rs. 8 lakhs ex-showroom.
XUV300 Sportz
The XUV300 Sportz was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. It is a regular XUV300 but with a more powerful 1.2-litre mStallion petrol engine that is turbocharged and gets direct-injection. The engine is capable of producing 130 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 230 Nm. This engine will make the XUV300, the most powerful compact-SUV in the Indian market. Cosmetically, the XUV300 stays the same except that it gets a ‘Sportz’ decal, all-black cabin and red brake callipers. The XUV300 Sportz should start from Rs. 10.5 lakhs ex-showroom and will go against Hyundai Venue Turbo, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet.
Thar Hard-top Convertible
Despite launching the Thar in the Indian market, there are quite a few test mules that have been spotted on our roads. The only changes that can have been spotted are new colours and a hardtop convertible. Currently, the SUV is only offered with a soft top and fixed hardtop variants.
More powerful Thar
According to a report, Mahindra is testing a more powerful version of the Thar. It will come with a 180 mStallion Pro petrol engine. As the name suggests, the new engine will produce 180 PS of max power and there will be a bump in torque output too. Currently, the 150 mStallion petrol engine produces 150 PS of max power and 300 Nm or 320 Nm of peak torque, depending on which transmission you opt for. It is being said that the new engine will increase the top speed of Thar from around 150 kmph to 180 kmph. As of now, there is no more information is available about the new engine.
