The Kiger is currently the most affordable sub-4 meter SUV in the country. Renault India is all set to start the deliveries of Kiger SUV to its customers. The deliveries will start from 3rd March 2021 via Renault dealerships across the country.

Sub-4 meter SUV segment is one of those segment that has grown tremendously in the last few years. It is highly competitive and almost every car manufacturer in the country has at least one product in this segment. Renault Kiger is the latest entrant to this highly competitive. While other manufacturers came up with feature loaded SUVs, Renault and Nissan played the price game very well. Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite are currently the most affordable compact SUVs in the segment.

Renault Kiger is based on CMF-A platform. This is the same platform that we have seen in Renault Kwid and Triber. Kiger gets a design that is similar to what we have seen in several other Renault cars in the past. The front grille gets chrome inserts and the LED DRLs and turn indicators are placed in a way that it looks like an extension of the front grille. The Renault Kiger does look muscular from the front. The all-LED three pod headlamps are placed on the bumper.

Moving to the side profile, it gets 16 inch alloy wheels that give Kiger a sporty look. Kiger gets a dual tone option across all the variants and moving to the rear, there is the bulky looking split C-Shaped tail lamps. This is one of the most interesting looking car from the rear in this segment. Moving inside, just like the exterior, interior also has a Renault like design to it. The dashboard design is what we have already seen in Triber. What makes it different however is the features on offer.

Renault offers a fully digital instrument cluster, floating type touchscreen infotainment screen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi function steering wheel, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and so on. Renault claims that Kiger offers best in class knee room and cabin storage space in the segment.

Coming to the engine and gearbox options. Kiger is available with two 1.0, three cylinder petrol engine options. One of them is a naturally aspirated unit whereas the other is a turbocharged one. There is no diesel engine on offer. Renault Kiger 1.0 litre naturally aspirated engine generates 72 Ps and 96 Nm of torque. This engine comes with manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. The turbocharged engine generates 100 Ps and 160 Nm of torque.  It is available with a manual and CVT gearbox option. Price for Renault Kiger starts at Rs 5.45 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to Rs 9.55 lakh, ex-showroom. The detailed review of Renault Kiger is available on our website. Click here to check that out.
