Mahindra launched the all-new Thar SUV in the market last year. The SUV looks entirely different from the older version in every aspect. It is a lot more comfortable, spacious and feature loaded. It is currently the most affordable 4×4 SUV that one can buy in India. Ever since its launch, the demand has been high and has a long waiting period too. Mahindra has increased the production to keep the demand in check but, even then the waiting period is quite long. In such a short span of time, we have featured several modified versions of all-new Mahindra Thar. Here we have a video that shows how Mahindra Thar would looks like, if Mahindra had launched a Classic Edition inspired from the Willys Jeep.
The video has been uploaded by SRK Designs on their YouTube channel. In this render video, the artist makes changes or modifies the all-new Mahindra Thar to look like a Willys. For this render video, the artist has chosen soft top version of Mahindra Thar. He starts by removing the stock bumper on all-new Thar. That chunky looking bumper is replaced with a metal bar with a skid plate extending to the bottom protecting the radiator. There shackles can be seen on the bumper and the winch is placed behind the bumper.

Another change that you would notice here is the front grille. The stock unit has been replaced with an old Jeep style grille. Moving to the side profile, the steel rims on the AX version of Thar have been replaced with chunky looking off-road tyres and military green shade on rims. The black cladding on the wheel arches and front fenders have been given a body colour paint job. The roof on Mahindra Thar has been completely chopped off and is now an open top Jeep. The door have also been removed to give it that Willys look.
Whole Thar gets a military green paint job. The 4×4 badge on the Thar is retained. In addition to that, there is stickers on the rear and the bonnet of the car. The render looks pretty neat and we can say that the artist was successful in making a Thar inspired from iconic Willys Jeep. Mahindra Thar is available in AX and LX trims. The LX trim comes with soft top convertible and hard top. The AX version is available with soft top. The LX trim gets alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, drizzle resistant roof mounted speakers, front facing seats standard across all variants, multi function steering wheel and so on.
Mahindra Thar is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. There is a 2.0 litre mStallion turbo petrol engine that generates 150 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk turbo diesel engine. It generates 130 Bhp and 320 Nm of torque. Both petrol and diesel engine options are available with manual and automatic gearbox option. It is available with a 4×4 transfer case as standard across all variants.
