Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray’s convoy with Tata Harrier & Mahindra TUV300 as pilot cars

The politician convoys in India are quite interesting and attention-grabbing. While the top politicians holding senior posts like the Prime Minister of India get a bulletproof convoy of expensive vehicles like Toyota Fortuner SUVs, the chief minister of the states use subtle convoys to move around compared to the prime minister and president of the country.

Uddhav Thackeray, who is the chief minister of Maharashtra chose the Tata Harrier black edition as pilot cars for his convoy and it sure looks great. Here is the latest video that shows the speeding Tata Harrier black edition and Mahindra TUV300 in the convoy of Thackeray.

In a video shared by CS12 Vlogs, the speeding convoy of Uddhav Thackeray goes past the camera within a few seconds. However, the video shows the black Tata Harriers complete with the strobes on the roof. There are about five Tata Harrier SUVs in the convoy. Even the pilot car or the leading vehicle is a Tata Harrier that announces the arrival of the convoy.

We also spotted several Mahindra TUV300 in the convoy. It should be noted that Maharashtra Police has officially acquired several hundred TUV300 a few years ago to use as patrol cars. However, the TUV300 cars in this convoy are of a different colour.

However, Uddhave Thackeray himself travels in a Mercedes-Benz S-Class that you can see in the middle of the convoy. There is also a Mercedes-Benz GLS in the convoy. Interestingly, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a personal vehicle of Thackeray and at most times, he prefers to drive it instead of sitting in the rear of the vehicle.

Tata and government cars

Tata goes long back when it comes to the association with the security cars in India. Earlier, most politicians used the good old Tata Safari and later Safari Storme as official vehicles. Now that the Safari is back on sale in the Indian market, we may get to see the politicians picking it up again for official use. In fact, during the 52nd Flag Raising Day parade of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), several Tata Safari SUVs were used to demonstrate how they provide security cover to the VIPs in India.

Now coming back to the Tata Harrier, it sits on the OMEGA-ARC platform which is derived from the Land Rover’s D8 platform. The 2021 Safari also uses the same platform. The Harrier comes with a 2.0-litre Kyrotec diesel engine that produces 170 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 350 Nm. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The transmission only drives the front wheels as a four-wheel drive is not offered with the Harrier.

The Tata Harrier has become a popular choice in the market. In fact, the newly launched Tata Safari has a long waiting period on it. Tata is currently focussing on the SUVs and their next vehicle to be launched in India will be the production version of the HBX micro SUV.
