Kia recently launched the 2021 version of their entry level SUV Sonet in the market. The SUV was launched in the market last year and it quickly became popular among buyers for its looks and features. The Kia Sonet competes with cars like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 in the segment. The production for 2021 version of Kia Sonet has already started and it has also started reaching the dealerships. Here we have a video of the base HTE variant of Kia Sonet showing what all has changed and what the the base variant of Kia Sonet offers.
The video has been uploaded by Power On Wheel on their YouTube channel. The video shows all the changes in the 2021 verison of Kia Sonet compact SUV. Starting with the front, as this is the base HTE variant. The Sonet gets a halogen headlamps with a black grille and silver colour lower grille garnish. It does not even come with fog lamps. All these components can be purchased from Kia as an accessory. The main difference from the 2020 version is the logo. The new Kia logo is placed on the bonnet of the car.

Coming to the side profile, the turn indicators are placed on the fender and there is thick black cladding around the wheel arches and around the car. The base variant only gets steels rims with wheel caps on it. Even the wheel caps get new Kia logo in the center. The base variant comes with body coloured door handles, ORVMs and misses out lower window chrome garnish, roof rail and turn indicators integrated with ORVMs.
At the rear, the split tail lamps are retained and the reflector strip running between the lights are also retained. Just below the reflector strip, Kia’s new logo is also placed. The video also shows what the interiors of base HTE trim Sonet look like. The interiors on this variant as expected miss out on a lot of features. Kia does not even offer a music system in the base variant. There is a manual AC, tilt adjustable steering wheel with buttons to control the MID, front power windows, rear AC vents, USB charging points and cubby holes.
Just like the exteriors, the steering wheel and the key also gets Kia’s new logo. The base variant even misses out on a vanity mirror. Kia Sonet’s top-end version offers features like a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment screen, multi-function steering wheel, the all LED headlamps and tail lamps, dual tone alloy wheels, ventilated seats, Bose speaker system, ambient lighting, electric sunroof, automatic climate control and so on.
The 2021 version is offered with the same set of engine and gearbox options. There are two petrol and one diesel engine available with the SUV. The 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine comes with a manual gearbox only. The 1.0 litre, three cylinder, turbo petrol engine comes with an iMT and DCT gearbox option. The 1.5 litre diesel engine gets a manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox option. Both automatic versions now get paddle shifters. Price for Kia Sonet 2021 starts at Rs 6.79 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to Rs 13.35 lakh, ex-showroom.
