Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI deliveries to begin 2 weeks after 1.0 TSI: Details

Skoda’s first vehicle under India 2.0 strategy is the Kushaq. It is going to launch on June 28th. We already know the engine details of the Kushaq. There is going to be a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI. According to ACI, the deliveries of the 1.0-litre TSI will start on  July 12 whereas the 1.5-litre TSI will take a bit more time and the deliveries are expected to start by the end of July.

Skoda will be offering both variants with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The 1.0-litre TSI will be offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox whereas the 1.5-litre TSI will be offered with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The 1.0-litre TSI will be the main engine while the 1.5-litre TSI will be for the enthusiasts who want to have more fun with their Kushaq.

The 1.0-litre TSI produces 115 PS of max power and 175 Nm of peak torque whereas the 1.5-litre TSI will produce 150 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre TSI will also come with an active cylinder technology which will deactivate the cylinders under less load. This will help in saving some fuel.

Variants

There will be three variants on offer, namely Active, Ambition and Style. The 1.5-litre TSI will only be offered with the top-end Style variant. The base variant will only be offered with a 1.0-litre TSI mated to a manual gearbox. The Ambition and Style will be offered with the 1.0-litre TSI and you would be able to get a manual gearbox or an automatic gearbox.

The base variant will come with fabric seats, wheel covers, LED Daytime Running Lamps mounted with the foglamps and halogen headlamps. Skoda will be offering Electronic Stability Control as standard. Other safety features include dual airbags, an Anti-lock braking system and Electronic Braking Distribution.

The higher variants will come equipped with LED headlamps with a projector setup and integrated LED Daytime Running Lamps. Other features include cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, multi-information display, tyre pressure monitoring system, ventilated front seats, automatic headlamps and much more. It will also come with leatherette interiors.

There will also be a new generation touchscreen infotainment system that measures 10-inches and will come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For safety, there will be 6 airbags, traction control,  multi-collision braking system, hill hold control and much more.

Monte Carlo variant

There are rumours that Skoda will also be adding a new top of the line variant known as Monte Carlo later on. The Monte Carlo will have to be offered only with the 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. It will have a sporty touch to the cabin with black seats and red stitching throughout the cabin. It is also expected to come with a digital drivers display.

Competitors and price

The Kushaq is expected to start around Rs. 10 lakhs ex-showroom and go up to Rs. 17 lakhs ex-showroom. It will be going against Maruti Suzuki S-Cross,  Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster. It will also go against the bigger SUVs like MG Hector and Tata Harrier. However, the biggest competition will be coming from the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
