Ola Electric Scooter bookings opened: Clear pictures surface

Ola is working on an electric scooter for the Indian market. Test mules of the scooter have been spied numerous times while they were on a test. They have also opened booking for an amount of just Rs. 499. People who are interested can pre-book their scooters and the amount is refundable. Now, the scooter has been spied without any camouflage. This is the first time that new shades of the scooter have been spied. We can see that there are three scooters. There is matte black, matte pink and blue. The scooter is expected to get launched in the upcoming months

“India’s EV revolution begins today as we open reservations for our electric scooter, the first in our range of upcoming EVs. With its incredible performance, technology and design along with aggressive pricing, it will help accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility. India has the opportunity and potential to become the world leader in EVs and at Ola, we are proud to lead this charge.” said Bhavish Aggarwal, chairman and Group CEO.

People who pre-book their scooters will be getting deliveries first. The scooter’s boot would be able to take two full-size helmets and there would still be some space for your knicks knacks. It will also come with keyless access. So, you would not have to take the key out. You would be just able to get on the scooter and it would detect that is you. There would also be support for a mobile application that would be connected to the scooter and act as a key.

The scooter would be able to deliver 75 km of riding range in just 18 minutes if you use Ola’s Hypercharger. They will be installing more than 1 lakh hyperchargers throughout 400 cities. The riding range on a full charge is expected to be around 150 km. The battery is expected to take around 6 hours to charge fully from a household outlet.

The top speed of the scooter will be above 80 kmph and it will hit 45 kmph in 3.9 seconds. So, the scooter should feel peppy when riding in city traffic. It should be able to overtake vehicles without much effort and Ola says that it is also pretty nimble. According to the rumours, the battery pack will also be removable.

It will get alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. Braking duties will be done by a disc brake in the front and a drum brake at the rear. Suspension duties will be done by telescopic units in the front as well as rear. It will get Daytime Running Lamp and two projector headlamps and a taillight. All will be powered by LED units.

Price Competitors

Ola’s scooter will be competing against the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Ather 450X. Ola says that they will price the scooter aggressively in the Indian market. So, expect it to have a price of around Rs. 1 lakhs. However, there are FAME subsidies that are provided by the government.
