Tata Tigor Electric sedan with 306 Km range launched: Prices start from Rs 11.99 lakh

Tata Motors today launched their second electric vehicle – the Tigor EV – in the Indian market. Tigor EV was earlier available for government offices only. The newly launched version is available for civilians now. Prices for the all-new Tigor EV sedan start from Rs 11.99 lakh, ex-showroom for the base XE variant.

According to Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors

EVs are fast gaining popularity on the back of rising comfort of customers, as the barriers to adoption are being overcome and due to growing preference for environmentally friendly solutions. This has been spearheaded by our very own Nexon EV, which today is the most popular EV in the Indian market. The increasing support from the central and the state Government, providing subsidies and a conducive environment for EVs to grow, inspires us to expand our EV offerings to our customers. We are ecstatic to launch the Tigor EV today, powered by the capable Ziptron Technology. The Tigor EV is a perfect option for all aspiring sedan buyers who are looking to own a vehicle that is technologically advanced, comfortable and high on safety standards, while also being an environmental-friendly commute, making it an irresistible choice for the buyers to #EvolveToElectric.

Tata is known for building safe cars and Tigor EV is no exception. The Tata Tigor EV has scored 4 stars at Global NCAP crash test. It will be available in XE, XM, XZ+ and XZ+  Dual Tone trims. Prices for these trims are Rs 11.99 lakh, 12.49 lakh, 12.99 lakh and 13.14 lakh, ex-showroom respectively. Tata will be offering Tigor EV in Daytona Grey and Teal Blue colours.

Tata Tigor uses Ziptron technology and the electric motor generates the 74 Ps and 170 Nm of peak torque. The sedan can do 0-60 kmph in 5.7 seconds. Tata Tigor uses a 26 kWh lithium ion battery pack and has an ARAI certified driving range of 306 kms which is quite impressive. It supports both AC and DC charging. The driving range may be less in real life conditions. Unlike Nexon EV, Tigor EV does not get any drive modes. Tata is offering over 30 connected car features including remote commands and remote diagnostics.

Design of the all-new Tigor EV is the same as the regular petrol version. The EV has already started arriving at the dealerships and several videos of the same are also available online. The Tigor EV is the only electric sedan in the segment and is also the most affordable EV in the country currently. Chrome garnishes seen on the regular Tata Tigor is replaced with gloss black and electric blue trims.

The front grille comes in gloss black finish with tri-arrow design elements. The humanity line that runs below the front grille has been finished in Tata’s electric blue finish. Tri-arrow designs can be seen on the lower grille as well. The side profile gets dual tone hyper style wheel covers with electric blue accents and an EV badging is also seen on he side fender. The lower window garnish is finished in chrome and the door handles are finished in body colour.

The coupe like sloping roof design was one of the feature in petrol Tigor and the same can be seen in the EV as well. The rear gets clear lens tail lamps and the Tigor EV badge is seen here as well. On the inside, Tata has not made many changes. It comes with a dual tone cabin with features like a fully digital instrument cluster, multi-function steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control and so on.
