Mahindra has silently recalled the diesel version of the XUV300 because of a faulty intercooler hose. The intercooler hose can develop cracks over time. Only the BS6 versions of the XUV300 Diesel have been affected by this issue. Due to this, the owners of the compact SUV are being contacted so that they can get their vehicle checked at the authorised service centres. The issue can be found in both manual gearbox and automatic gearbox. As of now, the number of units affected is not known.
Before this, Mahindra filed a recall of 600 vehicles that were produced at their Nashik factory. The vehicles that were affected were produced between June 21 and July 2 of this year. The manufacturer said that the recall is over suspicion of premature wear of engine parts due to contaminated fuel.
The Nashik factory received contaminated diesel that was filled to the vehicles that were produced there. Mahindra will contact the customers individually and their vehicle will be checked and rectified free of cost. Nashik production plant currently produces Scorpio, Thar, Bolero, Marazzo and XUV300.

Mahindra XUV300
The XUV300 is offered with a petrol as well as a diesel engine. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit that produces 115 bhp of max power and 300 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is a turbocharged unit that produces 109 bhp of max power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AMT transmission.
New more powerful engine
The rumours suggest that Mahindra is also preparing to launch a more powerful 1.2-litre mStallion petrol engine that comes with turbocharging and direct injection. It will produce 128 bhp of max power and 230 Nm of peak torque. This will make the XUV300, the most powerful compact SUV in the segment. Even now, the XUV300 produces the most torque in the segment.
Mahindra will be offering the new engine with all the variants of XUV300. The compact SUV is offered in four trims, namely W4, W6, W8, and W8(O). It is not clear whether Mahindra will continue to offer the current turbo petrol engine or not. It does make more sense for them to continue to offer the current engine as the new engine will increase the price of the compact SUV and XUV300 is already more expensive than its rivals. It starts at Rs. 7.95 lakhs ex-showroom and goes upto Rs. 13.33 lakhs ex-showroom.
Mahindra removed features
Mahindra has silently removed quite a few features from the XUV300 but the prices have not been decreased. They have removed the knee airbag from the XUV300. So, the total number of airbags has been decreased from 7 to 6. It still comes with dual airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags.
Before this Mahindra removed the door ajar lamps that used to glow whenever the door was open. Other features removed by the homegrown manufacturer are heated outside rearview mirrors, the centre seatbelt on the rear seat and the boot lamp.
