Tata Punch to soon get a turbo petrol engine: Details

Tata launched the all-new Punch micro SUV earlier this month and it has received massive demands in the market. Currently, the Punch is available with only one engine option – 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Tata is now working to launch a more powerful version of the sub-4m compact SUV.

T-BHP‘s RavenAvi says that Tata will launch the more powerful version of the Punch micro SUV in February or March 2022. The turbocharged petrol engine will be available with the Accomplished and above variants.

More powerful engine

The Tata Punch will get the same turbocharged unit that powers the Tata Altroz. It is a 1.2-litre turbocharged. Since both the cars are based on the same ALFA platform, the engine mounts would be the same

The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine available with the Altroz produces a maximum power of 109 Bhp and peak torque of 140 Nm. It will be only available with a five-speed manual transmission just like the Altroz.

Currently, the Punch gets the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 85 Bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm. It gets both a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT.

Tata Punch is the safest car in India

As per the official G-NCAP, the base variant of the Tata Punch was tested. The base variant comes with dual-front airbags, ABS and ISOFIX anchors for mounting the child seat. The upcoming Tata Punch has scored 16.45 out of 17 in the adult safety rating. For child safety, the Punch scored 40.89 out of 49.

The Tata Motors line-up currently has the most number of five-star rated cars in India. Starting with the Nexon, the Tata Altroz also received a five-star rating. The Punch has joined the group of top scorers.

The all-new Punch micro SUV gets a dashboard that looks similar to the Tata Altroz. It gets a dual-tone theme with black and white as primary colours. Other features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a flat-bottom steering wheel with multi-functional buttons, an automatic climate control system, a push-button engine start/stop, fabric upholstery and many other different features. The all-new Punch gets 90-degree opening doors as standard.

The all-new Punch gets a thick black grille that extends to become the LED DRL. The main headlamp clusters are located on the bumper of the car. The whole body gets a black cladding and even the front and rear bumpers are in black colour that adds a rugged look. On the sides, the Punch gets thick plastic cladding as well.

Tata Motors has started delivering the all-new Punch micro SUV across the country. The manufacturer has received an overwhelming response and has also revealed that it will hike the prices of the Punch soon.
