Royal Enfield motorcycles are probably the first thing that would come to your mind when you think of the word retro motorcycles. They have been in the market for a very long time and are one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. Royal Enfield Bullet and Classic series motorcycle are the most popular among buyers. These motorcycles are often picked up for modifications and we have seen some beautiful examples in the past. There are several customisation houses in the country and Hyderabad based Eimor Customs is one.
Eimor Customs latest creation is a modified Royal Enfield Electra motorcycle. The project started when ex-Air force fighter pilot approached the custom house. The client had an experience of more than two decades in the force and wanted to make his motorcycle into a memorabilia of the years he spent in service. This project was actually known as ‘Tribute to Leh‘ The project is actually based on a 2008 model Royal Enfield Electra. The owner wanted an old school look to his motorcycle.
Several modifications have been made to the motorcycle to achieve the classic old school look. Starting with the paint job, the whole motorcycle has been painted in black colour. The front forks, engine, silencer, handlebars, rims are all finished in black for that uniform look. As the owner wanted it to be a memorabilia, Eimor customs got the call sign of his regiment.

The side panels or the side box on this motorcycle gets a saying “we do the difficult as a routine. Impossible may take a bit longer” on it. The side box also has a drawing of Cheetah helicopter on it. As the owner was looking for an old school design, the stock headlamp casing was completely removed and replaced with a 52 model headlamp. In order to justify the look, they also installed Smith’s speedometer console. The stock seat on this motorcycle was replaced with a single saddle seat.
When it comes to fabrication work, this Electra now has a longer wheelbase than the stock motorcycle. The swingarm has been replaced to which resulted in increasing the wheelbase. The front and rear now get new wheels and tyres. The front gets a 110/70-19 inch tyres while the rear gets 130/70-18 inch tyres. The tyre change the look of the motorcycle to some extent.
The front and rear fenders were then fabricated to accommodate the new tyres. It is not completely an old school motorcycle. Eimor customs did integrate a bit of modern elements into the motorcycle. The headlamp for example is an LED unit and gets ring type DRL in it. The turn indicators and tail lamp are borrowed from modern Royal Enfield motorcycles.
Overall, the motorcycle does look unique and must have made the owner proud and will definitely remind him of his time when he was serving in the Air Force. It took Eimor Customs around 2.5 months to finish this project. The work done on this motorcycle looks absolutely clean and like many other jobs in the past, Eimor has made a beautiful motorcycle.
