Citroen currently only has the C5 Aircross in their portfolio and it is an expensive SUV when compared to its rivals. They will soon be launching the C3 in the Indian market which is a lot more affordable. Citroen has now released new pictures for National Youth Day. The advertisement also says “Made for the young and restless. The all-new Citroën C3”
The new pictures show a C3 finished in white and orange paint shade which is very popular in Citroen models. Then we have some youth models standing alongside the C3.
The C3 is the first model under Citroen’s C-cubed program. This program specifically aims in developing vehicles aimed towards developing markets. So, the price will be an important factor for such models.

The C3 has already been unveiled in the global market. The crossover is expected to launch sometime this year in the Indian market. It would be going against Tata Punch, Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Having said that, it is important to note that the C3 is not a SUV or micro-SUV, it is rather a rugged-looking hatchback like the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and Tiago NRG.
The C3 will get a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is expected to support flex fuel. If this happens, then Citroen will get a first-mover advantage because the C3 will become the first affordable car that would be able to run on flex-fuel.
The power output from the engine is expected to be somewhere around 100 PS. The torque output is still now known. The C3 has been spotted with a 5-speed manual gearbox already. For the automatic transmission, there could be a 7-speed dual-clutch unit.
The exterior will be rugged-looking, there will be thick plastic cladding all over the body and a high set bonnet. The front bumper has a faux skid plate and different coloured fog lamp surrounds depending on the colour you opt for.
The front gets a double slat grille that forms the Citroen logo and ends up in the LED Daytime Running Lamps. It has a split headlamp design. The headlamps still use a halogen setup, we are not expecting Citroen to offer LED units. At the rear, there are C-shaped tail lamps and a chunky black bumper.
There will be blacked-out wheels on the base-spec variant while the higher variants will get wheel covers. The top-end variant might come with stylized wheel covers that look like alloy wheels.
Funky cabin
Just like the exterior, the interior is also quite funky. It has rectangular air conditioning vents, a dot pattern on the dashboard, a flat-bottom steering wheel and the exterior colour would also make its way to highlight some parts of the cabin. There will be integrated front headrests, fixed rear headrests and manual air conditioning controls. The touchscreen infotainment system would come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
