Kia Carens production starts before official launch & price announcement

Kia has commenced the production of its latest offering for the Indian car market, the three-row MPV Carens. Like its other siblings, the Kia Carens is manufactured in the Korean car maker’s sprawling production facility in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh. The first unit of the Kia Carens was recently rolled out in the presence of all the top officials of Kia India.

The Carens is the fourth product from Kia in India after Seltos, Carnival and Sonet. Like the Seltos and Sonet, the Kia Carens has been designed and engineered keeping the Indian audience in mind. The new MPV is based on the same platform as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Alcazar. However, unlike these three offerings which are more SUV-ish, the Carens distinguish itself by being more inclined towards the traits of an MPV.

The Kia Carens is being promoted as a ‘Recreational Vehicle’ by Kia India, as it promises to offer more than the traditional virtues of an MPV. Touted to be positioned above the Seltos in Kia India’s lineup, the Carens will be launched with both six and seven-seater configurations and is aimed at those buyers who are looking for a modern three-row vehicle for their large families.

Kia Carens bookings open

The Kia Carens has already made its debut in India on 14th January 2022, and the bookings of the MPV were on ever since then. On the very first day of commencement of bookings, Kia India had registered 7,738 bookings of the Carens, which indicates that it is going to be the next blockbuster product from Kia after Seltos and Sonet. The bookings for Kia Carens are already open across all the authorized dealer outlets and on the official website of Kia India for Rs 25,000.

Coming to the product, the Kia Carens wear an entirely different visual identity over the Seltos on which it is based. The Carens debuts Kia’s new global design language, which is sleeker and more stylish in appearance. The Kia Carens will be launched in India with three powertrain options – a 1.5-litre 115 PS petrol, a 1.4-litre 140 PS turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. These engine options will be offered across five different variants of the Carens – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus.

The Kia Carens will be offered with all the modern features one expects from a vehicle of its class. ON the outside, it gets all-LED headlamps, fog lamps and tail lamps, and 16-inch machined alloy wheels. It is one of the most premium MPVs in its class, with comfort and convenience features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, electrically foldable second-row seats, retractable seatback table, next-gen Kia Connect App with 66 connected features, fully digital instrument console, powered driver seat and sunroof. The Kia Carens is going to be the first vehicle in its price range to offer six airbags as standard across all the variants.
