According to Autocar India, Maruti Suzuki will be announcing the prices of the 2022 Baleno around 20th February. The Nexa dealerships through which the Baleno will be sold have already started accepting unofficial bookings. The production of the Baleno Facelift has already been started at the Gujarat manufacturing plant.
The exterior and the interior of the Baleno has been redesigned for 2022. This was important as the design of the Baleno started to show its age when compared to the rivals. The Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20 and the Tata Altroz look much more modern or got a facelift recently.

Up-front there are new LED projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, there is also new split LED tail lamps. The lower variants of the Baleno would come with a halogen headlamp setup. There is also a new grille and the overall design of the 2022 Baleno looks sharper when compared to the current generation.
Interior
The interior will also get a significant upgrade than the current one. There would be redesigned dashboard, new upholstery and a slightly updated instrument cluster. The three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel will be carried over from the Swift.
Features
The 2022 Baleno would also come with a lot more features because when compared to the rivals, it lacks quite a bit. There will be new floating touchscreen infotainment on offer that will be larger than the current unit. It will feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
There will be a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, connected car technology, updated multi-information display etc. The rumours suggest that the Baleno now will also come with a heads-up display or HUD. There would also be automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button to start/stop the engine, electric adjustment for outside rearview mirrors, all power windows and much more.
Engine and gearbox
Maruti Suzuki is not expected to make any changes to the engine of the Baleno. So, there could be two 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engines on offer. There is a VVT engine that produces 83 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. Then there is the DualJet engine that produces 90 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque.
This engine also comes with 12V mild-hybrid technology that helps in increasing fuel efficiency. It also gets an idle engine start/stop feature. Moreover, there could also be a Baleno with a strong hybrid system in the future. Maruti Suzuki will also introduce a CNG powered Baleno in the future.
A 5-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard with both engines. The current generation of Baleno is also offered with a CVT automatic transmission. But this could change as the rumours suggest that Maruti Suzuki will be replacing the CVT with an AMT transmission. Because of this, they would be able to price the automatic variants more competitively than their rivals.
Safety might get a boost
The Baleno Facelift is expected to come with 6 airbags and an Electronic Stability Program on the top-end variant. The rumour also says that the Baleno could use thicker steel which will help in giving a better safety rating in the crash test and it would also give that “thud” sound when closing the doors.
