Tata Nexon is known for its build quality. It was the first car manufactured in India that scored 5 stars in the Global NCAP crash test. There have been many accidents that you would have seen on social media in which the Nexon was able to its occupants safe. Here, we have another video in which we can see a bad crash of Nexon.
The video is uploaded on YouTube by Nikhil Rana. In the video, we can see an Orange coloured Nexon, it is the pre-facelift model. We can see that the Nexon was carrying quite a bit of speed. The host says that the Nexon’d river tried to avoid a crash with a truck and we can also see him steer to the right when he tries to avoid hitting an autorickshaw.

Because of this, the Nexon goes airborne but to our surprise, very little of the Nexon got damaged. The bumper was slightly damaged, the headlamps were still intact and the roof and the upper half of the door had some damage. The interior is also shown in the video, the cabin looks pretty fine considering that the compact SUV went airborne. The infotainment system has come out of its spot and both airbags have been deployed. The video says that there were four occupants in the Nexon and all of them are safe.
Tata updated the Nexon
Tata updated the Nexon in 2020 and the sales of the compact SUV increased significantly. There were a few reasons behind it. The Nexon now looked like a mini version of the Land Rover Discovery, the front face of the facelifted Nexon is very similar to the one of a Land Rover. The petrol engine was also tuned for more power. Moreover, people started giving attention to the safety rating while buying a car.
Nexon Prices, Variants and Rivals
The prices of the Nexon were recently increased by Rs. 15,000. It now starts at Rs. 7.39 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 13.34 lakhs ex-showroom. It is offered in five trims namely, XE, XM, XZ, XZ+, and XZ+(O). Nexon competes against the Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Kia Seltos and Mahindra XUV300.
Engine and Gearbox
Tata Motors offers the Nexon with a petrol engine and a diesel engine. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre unit that is turbocharged whereas the diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AMT.
The turbo petrol engine produces 120 PS of max power and 170 Nm of peak torque whereas the diesel engine produces 110 PS of max power and 260 Nm of peak torque.
Tata Nexon EV
Tata Motors also sells an electric version of the Nexon. It is currently the most affordable electric compact SUV. It starts at Rs. 14.29 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 16.90 lakhs ex-showroom. It has a claimed driving range of 312 km. The electric motor produces 129 of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque. The homegrown manufacturer is also working on a long-range version of the Nexon EV.
