After observing the massive success of the electric scooter segment in India, a ton of new manufacturers are trying to take an early mover advantage into the next most logical segment of electric motorcycles. Amongst these new entrants, Pune based Tork Motors is looking forward to launching its first product the Tork Kratos electric bike in the last week of this month.
The company will launch the vehicle in a virtual event due to the pandemic and will also commence the bookings for the bike soon after the launch. Customers will be able to reserve their bikes with an online order and according to the company, deliveries will begin within a couple of months.
Formerly known as the Tork T6X, this electric motorbike was first unveiled in 2016, but due to some hiccups, the development of the now renamed Kratos has taken a little longer than anticipated. The company has been developing the T6X for more than 6 years now and is finally eyeing the launch of the bike.

The Pune-based company has revealed that the Kratos electric motorcycle will feature the company’s proprietary operating system called Tork Intuitive Response Operating System (TIROS) which will analyse and compile the data for every ride and will manage crucial components such as real-time power consumption, power management, and range forecasts. Additionally, features like a 4.3″ TFT screen, along with app and cloud connectivity, geo-fencing, navigation and anti-theft will be taken over from the T6X.
The company has claimed that Kratos will be able to outperform the claims of the former T6X as it will come with a bigger battery pack. The company added that the new EV motorcycle will be able to offer an enhanced range along with a quicker charging time thanks to the Tork LIION battery pack which comes with an advanced axial flux motor topology for the highest peak power and range.
The earlier model T6X from Tork Motors was also powered by a 6kW (peak power) DC axial flux motor, producing 27Nm which helped the bike to reach a top speed of 100 kmph and claimed range of 100 km. The T6X came with quick charging which could charge the bike to 80 percent in just an hour. In addition, it also came with an aluminium alloy casing for the battery pack, and the battery was IP67-rated for optimum protection against water damages.
The earlier test mules of the T6X were based on Yamaha FZ-16 donor bike however, the new Kratos will feature the new and redesigned trellis frame along with a telescopic front fork, rear monoshock, and disc brakes on both wheels. The Kratos will also showcase a completely new bodywork along with split seats and LED lights. As for the pricing of the Kratos, we can expect the bike to be priced at around Rs 1.5 lakh, which is slightly expensive than the Tork T6X which was priced at Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
