2022 Renault Kiger with additional features launched in India

Renault has updated the Kiger compact SUV for the year 2022 with a few new features and visual tweaks on the inside, apart from a new RXT (O) variant. The overall range of the updated Renault Kiger now commences at Rs 5.84 lakhs. Most of the updates introduced are restricted to the variants which come with the turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre petrol engine. The bookings for the updated Renault Kiger are now open across all the authorised dealer outlets and the website of Renault India.

New colour options

To start with, the range-topping RXZ variants are now available with a new dual-tone colour option of Metal Mustard with Mystery Black Roof. This new paint scheme has already made its debut in the other two offerings from Renault, Kwid and Triber. All the variants of the Kiger, including naturally-aspirated and turbocharged versions, will now come with a PM2.5 air purifier as a standard feature. The top-spec variants are now also available with two new features – wireless smartphone charger and cruise control. On the inside, the Renault Kiger now comes with an updated quilted emboss upholstery with contrast red stitching. The dashboard of the compact SUV will also feature red accents.

There are some visual tweaks, which are exclusive to the turbocharged variants of the Renault Kiger. These variants will now come with ‘TURBO’ decals on the lower parts of the door panels, a silver skid plate below the front bumper and a chrome strip on the lower edge of the boot lid. The 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels in the top-spec trims will also get red-coloured wheel hub caps.

No mechanical changes

Apart from the new features mentioned above, the Renault Kiger lineup also receives a new RXT (O) variant with the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine option. This variant is offered with both 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox options.

Launched in 2021, the Renault Kiger marks the presence of the French carmaker in the sub-four-meter compact SUV space. The Kiger is available with two powertrain options – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol.

The naturally-aspirated version claims a maximum power output of 72 PS and maximum torque output of 96 Nm and is offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. On the other hand, the more powerful turbocharged version promises 100 PS of maximum power and 160 Nm of maximum torque and is available with two transmission options of 5-speed manual and CVT.

The Renault Kiger competes with other sub-four-meter compact SUVs, such as Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Mahindra XUV300.
