Toyota Hilux pick-up truck launched: Rs. 2 lakh costlier than Fortuner luxury SUV

Toyota has finally announced the price of the much-awaited Hilux. The new Toyota Hilux starts at Rs 33.99 lakh, which makes it much more expensive than the only other pick-up truck available in the Indian market – the Isuzu V-Cross. It’s even costlier than stable-mate Fortuner, which starts from Rs. 31.39 lakh.

The Isuzu V-Cross BS6 starts at a price of Rs 16.98 lakh, ex-showroom. It is double the price of the Isuzu V-Cross but both vehicles belong to different segments. The Toyota Hilux is much more luxurious and is bigger in size compared to the Isuzu.

Toyota has already started delivering the Hilux pick-up to the dealerships and customer deliveries are expected to begin soon. Toyota earlier stopped taking new bookings officially due to an overwhelming response from the market.

Commenting on the announcement of the price of Toyota Hilux, Mr. Tadashi Asazuma, Executive Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said,

All the variants of the all-new Toyota Hilux get the 4X4 system as standard. Toyota offers five colour options with the Hilux. While Toyota is not taking new bookings at the moment, the brand is yet to announce the time of the new booking slots.

Toyota Hilux is a luxury pick-up

The all-new Toyota Hilux is feature-loaded. The top-end trim offers automatic headlamps, integrated LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, a Chrome bar on the rear bumper, a chrome beltline, 18-inch alloy wheels, power foldable ORVMs and more.

Inside, the Hilux pick-up truck offers leather seats, an 8-way adjustable powered driver seat, a dual-zone climate control system, second-row AC vents, an 8.0-inch infotainment system, TFT multi-function display, UV cut glass and more. Electrochromatic mirrors, and much more.

Only available with diesel engine

The all-new Hilux offers a single 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 204 PS and peak torque of 420 Nm with the manual transmission and 500 Nm with the automatic transmission. This is the same engine option that also powers the Toyota Fortuner.

The Hilux is based on the same platform as the Fortuner. The Hilux offers 4X4 as standard. There is a high and low-range transfer case as well. Toyota also offers the A-TRAC traction control system with the pick-up truck and there are additional features like downhill assist control.

The Hilux offers seven airbags as standard. There is vehicle stability control, and switchable traction control as well. There are two drive modes in the vehicle that changes the steering settings as well. The Hilux offers 700mm water wading capability and also gets Limited Slip Differential. There is an electronic diff lock and a rear diff lock for extreme off-roading.
