Kia EV6 price leaked; Rs 50,000 cancellation charge on bookings

Kia India will soon start its electric vehicle journey in India with the all-new EV6. Kia will officially announce the price of the new EV6 on 2nd June. But before that, we have the leaked prices of the upcoming electric car from Kia.

According to information from MotorBeam, the Kia EV6 will get a price tag of Rs 65 lakh, ex-showroom for the entry-level RWD variant. While the top-end AWD variant will get a price tag of Rs 70 lakh. The price of the recently unveiled BMW i4 in India is also Rs 70 lakh. It would be interesting to see the sales numbers with such a price tag on a mass-segment brand.

Kia will only offer 100 units of the new EV6 to the Indian market initially. We are not sure if that is because of the production constraints. Kia India’s waiting period for popular cars like Seltos and the Carens is into months. Many instances show customers cancelling the vehicles to choose rival models with lower waiting periods.

Kia will start the deliveries of the new EV6 AWD in September 2022. While the customers who chose the RWD variant will get them from December 2022. The all-new Kia EV6 will be available in selected 15 dealerships in 12 cities across the country. Customers who are booking the EV6 now will get the car in about 10 months.

Kia to charge customers for cancelled bookings

While Kia has started accepting the bookings for the all-new EV6 without revealing the price, the customers who will cancel the bookings might not be very happy if they do not like the price.

Kia is currently charging a whopping Rs 3 lakh to book the EV6. There is a cancellation charge of Rs 50,000 if the customer decides to cancel the booking and get the money back. Kia claims that it has received more than 300 bookings for EV6.

2022 Kia EV6

Kia is already selling the new EV6 in many international markets. The car will come to India as a CBU or completely built unit. It will come with a single 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a maximum range of 528 km on the WLTP cycle. The battery supports ultra-fast charging that adds 100 km to the range in just 4.5 minutes. It takes about 18 minutes to charge the battery of the Kia EV6 from 10% to 80% using the 350 kW fast charger. While using a 50 kW charger, charging takes about 73 minutes.

The RWD single motor unit packs 225 Bhp and 350 Nm while the AWD version offers 321 Bhp and 605 Nm. Kia claims that the EV6 can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
