We are delighted to commence deliveries of the All-New Scorpio-N on the auspicious occasion of Navratri. We are committed to roll out the vehicles in full force, and our highly automated manufacturing line which was a part of the investment on Scorpio-N, will help us achieve the deliveries faster.
Mahindra builds the Scorpio-N at the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Chakan, off Pune. The same facility is used to build the flagship XUV700 as well. The all-new Scorpio-N is a massive upgrade over the older model in almost every area. While it’s still based on a body-on-ladder frame that gives it great ruggedness, the Scorpio-N has been developed ground-up. The suspension is all-new and so is the body-on-ladder frame. The new SUV is larger than the older version, more powerful, fuel efficient and even easier to drive thanks to automatic transmission options on both petrol and diesel models.
Petrol + Diesel
With the Scorpio-N, Mahindra has taken the SUV back to its roots. Back in 2002, when the Scorpio was first launched, it was offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. 20 years later, the clock’s come a full circle, and the Scorpio-N is available with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol motor is a 2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged mFalcon unit that makes 197 Bhp-370 Nm on the 6 speed manual and 197 Bhp-380 Nm on the 6 speed automatic trim.
The diesel engine is the tried and tested 2.2 liter-4 cylinder mHawk unit, available in 3 states of tune. In the base trim, the diesel motor produces 130 Bhp-300 Nm, and is paired to a 6 speed manual gearbox. Higher manual trims get the same engine in 172 Bhp-370 Nm while the automatic trims get a 172 Bhp-400 Nm state of tune for the mHawk diesel. The Scorpio-N Petrol is rear wheel driven while the diesel trims gets both rear wheel drive and four wheel drive options.
The Scorpio-N has no competition, literally!
Tata Motors no longer builds the Safari Storme and Hexa rear-wheel driven body-on-ladder SUVs, making the Mahindra Scorpio-N the only SUV in its segment to offer this configuration. In price terms though, the Mahindra Scorpio-N straddles a wide range of segments, and competition. From the Hyundai Creta-Kia Seltos to the Tata Safari-Mahindra XUV700, the Scorpio-N is an alternative to a wide range of SUVs in price terms. Introductory ex-showroom prices for the Scorpio-N start from Rs. 11.99 lakh, going all the way up to Rs. 23.9 lakh.
