Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N: Who should buy what [Video]

Mahindra Scorpio N is a hot topic on the internet. The SUV was launched in the market few months ago and it quickly became popular among buyers for its looks, features and aggressive pricing. The Scorpio N deliveries have already started and the owners have started sharing their views about the SUV too. Tata Safari, which is also a popular SUV in the segment is also a competitor of Scorpio N. It is currently the flagship model from Tata Motors in India and is the only 6-7 seater SUV in their line-up. Here we have a comparison video of Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 L and top-end variant of Tata Safari SUV.

The video has been uploaded by Anubhav Chauhan on his YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger compares Scorpio N and Safari Dark Edition SUV. Both SUVs are finished in Black shade and they both look great in this shade. The Scorpio N gets chrome and silver highlights at places whereas the Safari is all black. Video starts with the pricing. Vlogger mentions when you compare the on-road price of both the SUVs, Scorpio N is almost Rs 1.5 lakh less expensive than Safari. After this he speaks about the exterior of the SUVs. The Scorpio N gets front parking sensors and camera installed. Safari does not get any of it.

The headlamps and foglamps on Scorpio N are all LEDs and the turn indicator on the SUV is sequential. Safari on the other hand gets halogen bulbs for high beam and xenon projector lamps for low beam. The fog lamps are halogen on Safari and LEDs on Scorpio N. Dual-function LED DRLs are common on both SUVs. Coming to the side profile, both SUVs get electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with integrated ELD turn indicators on it. Both SUVs get dual-tone alloy wheels. In Scorpio N, the top-end manual version gets 17 inch wheels while the automatic comes with 18 inch unit. Tata is only offering 18 inch wheels with Safari.

Both SUVs have request sensors on driver and co-passenger door and dimension-wise, Scorpio N is taller and wider than Safari. The Safari is however longer and offers more ground clearance than Scorpio N. Both SUVs get LED tail lamps, rear parking sensors, and camera. The vlogger then opens the boot of Safari to reveal the boot space. With all three row of seats up, there is only little space in the boot for luggage. Tata is offering split third row seat which makes it more flexible during travel. In Scorpio N, similar amount of space is seen but, Mahindra is only offering bench seats for third row that are not split.

When you fold the third row, Safari offers more boot space and is more practical. Video then shows the interior features. Safari offers ventilated seats from front and second-row passengers, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, more space in the third row. These features are missing in the Scorpio N. Mahindra Scorpio N offers a better driving position, a better-looking touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, an electric sunroof and so on. Scorpio N comes with connected car features that are missing in Safari. The instrument cluster of Scorpio N is also better than Safari.

Both SUVs offer leather upholstery and offer equal amount of comfort in the cabin. The body roll is definitely more in Scorpio N mainly because of its body style. Both SUVs have their positives and negatives. Mahindra Scorpio N is available with both petrol and diesel engine option while Safari is available with a diesel engine only. If you are looking for a practical third row, then Safari is the one to go for. If you are looking for a value-for-money product, then Mahindra Scorpio N would make more sense.
