Tata Motors is inching closer to launching the updated version of the Harrier SUV. The facelifted Harrier, which is expected to be launched at the Auto Expo 2023, was seen once again while its trial runs on public roads. A fully camouflaged test mule of Tata Harrier was spied on test in the open, which looks almost production ready.
A YouTube video from Motorbeam shows the facelifted version of the Tata Harrier on the test, wrapped completely in camouflage. While not much closer details are evident in this video, it looks like the new Harrier will retain the current design with minimal changes to the front and rear profiles. However, the changes will be very minimal and will be restricted to highlights like a tweaked front grille, new LED inserts for the tail lamps and a possible upgradation of headlamps from HID to LED units. The test mule was also spied with the current 18-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof.

No details of the interior are visible in this video. However, it is expected that Tata Motors will use this opportunity to upgrade the current 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There are rumours that Tata Motors will install a wider touchscreen infotainment system, which will feature new-age graphics and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other possible changes in the cabin include a revised instrument console and a few new features, details of which are currently kept under wraps.
Many new features
The biggest feature addition, which is expected to make its way in the updated version of the Tata Harrier, is a full suite of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). Various new-age SUVs like MG Astor, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Tucson have already started offering ADAS in their top-spec trims. Given that more SUVs like facelifted Hyundai Creta, MG Hector and Kia Seltos will offer ADAS once they get launched, it is expected that Tata Motors will follow suit to keep up with the competition.
There will be no changes to the powertrain option in the updated Tata Harrier, as the current 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine already meets the soon-to-be-implied RDE emission norms. Available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, this engine produces a maximum power output of 170 PS and a peak torque output of 350 Nm. However, in the facelifted Tata Harrier, it is expected that this engine might receive power and torque upgrades, considering that its direct rival, the Mahindra XUV700 beats it by a significant margin when it comes to performance numbers.
