2023 Hyundai Alcazar goes turbo petrol: Launched with the new 1.5 TGDi engine

The South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor India has introduced the 2023 Alcazar with an all-new 1.5 Turbo GDi Petrol engine that is RDE compliant and also E20 fuel ready. This engine has been in talks for while now and the company has finally launched it first with the Alcazar. Most likely this engine will be offered in the new 2023 Creta as well the 2023 Verna as well. As for the Alcazar, interested customers can reserve the SUV with this new engine via the brands official website or by visiting the dealership. Booking amount for the 2023 Alcazar is Rs 25,000.

The company stated that the new 1.5 Turbo GDi petrol engine in the Alcazar will be available with either a 7DCT or 6MT gearbox option. As for the specifications of this motor, it will be able to generate a maximum power of 160 PS at 5 500 rpm and a maximum torque of 253 Nm at 1500–3 500 rpm. Hyundai further added that the new 1.5 Turbo GDi is the most fuel-efficient powertrain in the class with the 7DCT version attaining an impressive mileage of 18 km/l and the 6MT returning 17.5 km/l.

Additionally as part of the new 2023 update Hyundai Alcazar will also sport cosmetic updates, including a new front grille design. Furthermore, t he puddle lamp logo has also been updated by Hyundai and now includes the ‘ALCAZAR’ insignia. As part of the MY’23 improvements, the Hyundai ALCAZAR will now also come equipped with six airbags as standard (driver, passenger, side, and curtain), as well as the idle stop and go technology.

He further added, “Hyundai ALCAZAR has been a steadfast volume driver for HMI and these new updates will certainly drive more affinity towards the brand. Further, we are well aligned with the Government’s mission of cleaner mobility solutions and the new 1.5 Turbo GDi petrol powertrain will be both RDE compliant and E20 fuel ready.”

Earlier this month the company also gave the Alcazar 6-Airbags (Driver, Passenger, Side & Curtain) as standard and updated the other availble engines to the latest BS-6 norms. Other engine options currently available with the Alcazar are a 2.0-litre NA petrol engine which puts out 159 bhp of power and 191 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 115 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines come paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

As mentioned above most likely this new engine will be offered with the forthcoming Hyundai Creta 2023 facelift as well as the new Verna.
