Ahead of the G-20 meetings in India that are scheduled to happen in Haryana between 1 March and 4 March, the administration has taken steps to beautify the city. These flower pots were installed under the same project to make the city look more beautiful.
In a complaint filed by Metropolitan Green Planner, the Urban Environment Division of GMDA, said, “It has been observed that some passers-by/thieves are stealing flower pots placed on the roadside. A video of the theft of flower pots is also going viral on Twitter, in which the registration number of the car used in the theft is HR 20 AY 0006. Therefore, take necessary action against the one who steals the flower pots, considering the importance of the national level event, and also deploy police personnel for the security of the flower pots planted on both sides of the road, so the G-20 event can be completed smoothly,”
An FIR was registered against the unidentified accused under section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code at the DLF Phase 3 police station. DCP of the station said that the police are trying to identify the accused and their vehicle. They will be arrested soon.
Social media influencer blamed
Social media platforms including Twitter have connected the Kia Carnival to social media influencer Elvish Yadav. It is alleged that the same car was used by the social media influencer during one of his meet-ups in Tijara, Rajasthan. However, the influencer has denied that the car belongs to him and has clarified that he was using someone else’s car because it has two sunroofs. The police are yet to investigate the connection or the claims.
