Toyota Innova Hycross reimagined as an expedition vehicle

One of the most popular monikers in the country – the Japanese automaker Toyota’s Innova recently recently received a huge update and got launched as the Innova Hycross. And being the most popular MPV in the segment it has already gained a ton of buyers and lovers in India. Recently, a set of rendered images of this beloved MPV reimagined as an expedition vehicle were shared online. The Innova Hycross in these images has been neatly redesigned.

The pictures of this rendered Innova Hycross were shared on the social media platform Instagram by alpha_renders one of the many talented artists in the country. The model in the pictures has been finished in a shade of a sportier Candy Apple Red color. At the front, the artist has not modified the fascia a lot and has kept it simple with a blackout of all the chrome accents that come in the car from the factory. The artist has added two huge LED pod lights along with smoked-out headlights however in the front and apart from these changes it looks pretty much stock.

Moving on to the sides we can note that the reimagined MPV gets a set of bigger alloy wheels which are seen wrapped in some all-terrain tyres. Furthermore the blackout of the window mouldings, grab handles and other small elements can also be noted. Moving forward one of the biggest changes that can be noticed on this rendering is the addition of a roof mounted ski box that is used in a lot of expedition vehicles to increase the storage capacities for the adventures. Lastly another huge addition is the inclusion of a tyre carrier that is not seen on the stock MPV.

The Toyota Innova Hycross is the brands newest release and for the first time it has ditched the time tested ladder-on-frame chassis for a monocoque configuration. The MPV is based on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). When compared to the Innova Crysta, Hycross looks a lot more premium and it offers more features too. The cars have started arriving at the dealerships and recently a video was shared on YouTube where a dealership from Maharashtra delivered 10 Innova Hycross MPVs to customers in one day in an event.

Toyota offers the Innova HyCross petrol in four different variants: G (7-seater), G (8-seater), GX (7-seater), and GX (8-seater). The HyCross self-charging hybrid or strong hybrid model comes in VX (7S), VX(8S), ZX, and ZX(O) variants. A floating 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, leather upholstery, front ventilated seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a multi-function steering wheel, and other options are available with the Toyota Innova Hycross. Toyota also provides ADAS. This feature is exclusive to this model of Toyota in India.

A 2.0-liter petrol engine and an electric motor are offered in the powerful hybrid version of the Innova Hycross. The total power output of this configuration is 183 Ps. The strongest hybrid version is said to have the best fuel efficiency in its sector, at 23.24 km/l. On the other hand, the conventional petrol version also boasts a 2.0 litre engine with 171 PS and a stated mileage of 16.13 km/l. There are G and GX variations of the normal gasoline version. The VX, ZX, and ZX(O) variants are available with the strong hybrid system.  Toyota does not offer a manual gearbox with Innova Hycross. The regular petrol version gets a CVT gearbox while the Strong Hybrid version comes with an e-CVT.
