Yet another Ola S1 Pro electric scooter’s front suspension breaks: Rider injured [Video]

Earlier this year, we had come across a news where a woman who was riding an Ola electric scooter was severely injured after the front suspension on the scooter broke while riding. After that incident, we had seen posts of several Ola users sharing similar incidents with their scooter. One of the recent video that has surfaced online is from Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior. The user of the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter broke the front suspension, after the scooter went over a pothole while riding.

The video has been shared by Abhishek Soni, a YouTuber on Twitter. In the post, the YouTuber mentions that the video was shared by one of his subscribers. The person who faced this issues was actually riding his Ola S1 electric scooter to the market. While he was on his way, his scooter went over a pothole and as soon as his scooter passed over the pothole, the front suspension broke. The tweet does not mention at what speed the scooter was being ridden when this happened.

From the video that the user has shared to the YouTuber online, he suffered minor injuries to his knee. Video does not show if the rider suffered any more injuries. Abhishek Soni wrote,”I am a youtuber and one of my subscribers who is from Gwalior, today he was going to the market from his Ola S1, there is a pothole in the middle and as soon as his vehicle passes over it, the suspension breaks, please help him. Regards Abhishek Soni”

The video shared online has already grabbed close to 8,000 views and many Ola users have commented under the video showing their concern in this matter. One of the user said, “@OlaElectric @bhash should recall the scooters and should replace the front swingarm with the updated one as this is life threatening for us, as such incidents can happen to any Ola S1 user now even I’m getting scared and not riding my Ola S1 :Pro coz we never know what will happen.” Another user wrote, “I’m from Cuttack I used to take my little daughter to school every day Now I’m scared and never gonna take her on ola.. I’ll prefer my bike @bhash @OlaElectric #recallola” Some of them have asked Ola to replace the front suspension after they have noticed a crack on it. Ola is yet to put out an official statement in this matter.

As mentioned above, this is not the first time the front suspension on an Ola scooter has broken. There were so many incidents that a petition was made on Change.org to resolve the issue by either improving the quality or changing the front suspension design. Both Ola S1 and S1 Pro come with single fork suspension at the front while the cheaper Ola S1 Air gets a regular telescopic front suspension setup. This setup looks a lot more reliable or durable than that of the single side unit. Although we have come across many incidents where the front suspension has collapsed, Ola Electric has not made any announcement regarding the recall or improving the quality yet.
