Just a few weeks after launching the facelifted version of the Grand i10 Nios hatchback, Hyundai has added a mid-spec variant to its lineup. Called the Sportz Executive, this new variant has been slotted between the Magna and Sportz variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
Like the two variants between which it has been positioned, the new Grand i10 Nios Sportz Executive will be available with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission options. While the manual version of this new variant costs Rs 7.16 lakh, the AMT version has been priced at Rs 7.70 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India). However, this new variant will be available only with the 1.2-litre petrol engine and not in diesel or CNG versions.
Compared to the Sportz variant below which it has been positioned, the new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz Executive misses out only on automatic climate control as seen in the pictures by Perfect Carz. Apart from that, it retains all the features of the Sportz variant, such as 15-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear AC vents, keyless entry, and driver seat height adjustment. It also gets four airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, hill hold assist, and electronic stability control.

Like the other variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, this new Sportz Executive also gets the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 83 PS of maximum power and 114 Nm of maximum torque. Hyundai had discontinued the 1.2-litre three-cylinder 75 PS diesel engine in the Grand i10 Nios lineup a few months back and has not included it in the new facelifted version.
However, with its prices, the new Sportz Executive variant is only Rs 4,000 more affordable than the Sportz variant. Some might find this price gap too small and opt for the Sportz variant. However, this new variant will be preferred by those who can live with the compromise of automatic climate control and want an even more affordable option (though only by a small margin).
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, and Tata Tiago. It belongs to the compact hatchback segment, which has witnessed a fall in popularity, owing to more people buying sub-compact SUVs. Due to this reason, Hyundai is currently working on an India-specific micro-SUV, which will be slotted between the Grand i10 Nios and Hyundai Venue. This new offering will be a direct rival to the Tata Punch and Citroen C3.
