2023 Tata Nexon Facelift to be launched in August

The Tata Nexon, one of the best-selling sub-compact SUVs in the country, is set to undergo a significant redesign in August this year, as reported by Autocar India. Tata Motors will launch the new Nexon Facelift with significant advancements in design, interior, and engine. The company plans to manufacture the upcoming facelift model at the Ranjangaon factory, with production commencing in July 2023. This facility is shared by Stellantis, which uses a different assembly line to build Jeep SUVs at the same location.

The forthcoming Tata Nexon will receive a significant redesign to the front fascia, featuring a split headlight design to synchronize with the other Tata SUVs. The model will likely get LED DRLs on top and a projector or LED headlamp setup in place of conventional fog lamps. Recent spy shots of the SUV near Pune also suggest that the Nexon will derive some exterior design elements from the Curvv concept.

However, the side profile of the SUV will remain the same as the outgoing model, and the dimensions of the SUV will not change. From the recent test mule images, the only change that was apparent was that the 16-inch alloys will have a new design. Moving on to the rear end, a significant upgrade to the facelifted Nexon will be its new design, with sleeker tail lamps and new LED inserts. The tail lamps are expected to be connected with a horizontal LED light bar, and the car will also get a revised rear bumper.

The Nexon Facelift is believed to have a completely new interior with modern amenities, including a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which we have seen on the upgraded Harrier and Safari. A new TFT instrument console and ADAS features in top-spec models are further interior improvements that will likely be included in the SUV.

On the drivetrain side, the updated Tata Nexon will get a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, previewed at the Auto Expo 2023. The new engine claims a maximum power output of 125 bhp and 225 Nm, 5 bhp and 55 Nm more than the current engine’s claimed performance numbers. In addition to the proposed 6-speed DCT, this new petrol engine will also be offered with a 6-speed manual from the current version of the SUV.

The 2023 Tata Nexon will continue to offer the 1.5-litre 110 horsepower diesel engine as the second available powerplant, despite the majority of compact cars and SUVs avoiding diesel options. Unlike the petrol engine, which will get a new 6-speed DCT, the 6-speed manual and AMT transmission choices for the diesel engine are anticipated to remain the same. With the launch of the new Nexon facelifts ICE iterations, we can also expect the launch of new Nexon EV’s Facelift.

As mentioned above most likely the company will be commencing the production of the new Nexon facelift from July of this year. Reports have also stated that the company aims to produce around 15,000 vehicles every month including the petrol and diesel variants. It also aims to produce 5,000 units of the Nexon EV per month as well.
