Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 delivery starts; First walk around video out

Mahindra has begun delivering the second-top Z8 variant of the Scorpio-N after a delay of almost one and a half years since the SUV’s launch. This follows the recent release of other mid-spec variants, such as the Z4 and Z6. While the Scorpio-N Z8 offers many additional features compared to the Z6 variant, it misses out on some of the equipment available in the top-spec Z8L.

A YouTube video from ‘Engine With EVs’ showcases a Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 variant parked in a dealer stockyard, with the presenter offering a walkaround of the SUV. Mahindra has made no changes to the features list of the Scorpio-N Z8 since its launch. The Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 is available with both manual and automatic variants of petrol and diesel versions. Additionally, this variant also comes with the option of diesel-manual four-wheel drive.

The exterior of the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 features a premium kit, including LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, sequential LED turn indicators, LED projector fog lamps, and LED tail lamps. It also has roof rails, body-coloured door handles and mirrors, electrically adjustable and foldable rearview mirrors, and chrome garnish for the window waistline. While the manual variants get 17-inch steel wheels, the automatic variants come with 18-inch machined alloy wheels.

The interior of the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 has many features, such as a sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a push start-stop button. It also features a 7-inch TFT MID, steering-mounted audio, Bluetooth and cruise controls, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and rear AC vents.

What does it miss out on?

In comparison to the Z8L top-spec variant, the Z8 misses out on a premium 12-speaker Sony sound system, electrically powered front seats, wireless charging, and the option of captain seats in the second row. Instead, it has a 6-speaker audio system and a manual lever for height adjustment of the driver’s seat. While it comes with six airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, a rear camera, ESC, hill hold assist, and hill descent control, it lacks front parking sensors, which are available in the Z8L variant.

The Z8 variant of the Mahindra Scorpio-N is available with both engine options: the 2.0-litre 203 PS four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre 175 PS four-cylinder diesel engine. These engine options are available with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options in the Z8 variant.
