Honda Elevate mid-size SUV to make its global debut on June 6 – New teaser released

The Japanese automotive giant, Honda, will finally unveil its highly anticipated mid-size SUV, Elevate, on June 6. Along with the unveiling date announcement, the company has released a teaser of the Elevate from an overhead angle. The teaser reveals that the Elevate will come with a single-pane sunroof and will be as long as its segment rivals, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

From the picture, it is noticeable that the Honda Elevate will feature a flattish bonnet with two striking body lines. It appears to have sleek LED headlights and mostly flat sides. The rear of the SUV will be slightly upright and will boast sleek LED taillamps. Additionally, the Honda Elevate will have a shark fin antenna on top and silver roof rails.

One of the biggest revelations from this teaser picture is the inclusion of a single-pane glass electric sunroof. Currently, most of Elevate’s biggest rivals, such as Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder, offer larger panoramic sunroofs. The Kia Seltos, another significant rival for the Elevate, will soon receive a facelift that will also feature a panoramic sunroof.

In terms of other details, not much is visible from the outside, but we can expect the Honda Elevate to feature proper crossover SUV styling with less sharp body lines and creases. The SUV will not have an extremely aggressive appearance, but will instead align with Honda’s simple yet classy design language.

Regarding the interior, there isn’t much information available, but we can anticipate the signature Honda quality and materials, along with the latest technological features. The car is expected to come equipped with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control system, cruise control, and other safety features.

As for the drivetrain, the Honda Elevate is likely to be offered with a 1.5-liter petrol engine that produces 121 PS and 150 Nm of torque, which is the same engine available in the Honda City mid-size sedan. Reports suggest that Honda could tweak the power characteristics to suit the SUV form factor. Transmission options are likely to be the same as the Honda City, with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox, depending on the variant. The SUV will also come with a range of safety features, including ABS with EBD, dual airbags, a rearview camera, and Honda’s LaneWatch technology.

According to reports, after the launch, the car may also receive a hybrid powertrain borrowed from the City e:HEV. Furthermore, it might also get a turbo-petrol engine. Unfortunately, there will be no diesel motor available for this SUV, as Honda Cars India has discontinued the production of diesel engines in India.

In terms of pricing, it is expected that Honda will launch this model in the Rs 12-19 lakh range. Upon its launch, it will compete against mid-size SUV segment champions such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and a few others.
