The Honda Brio was one of the most enjoyable little hatchbacks ever sold in India. The car was known for its quirky look and its 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine. The stock Brio was already fun to drive, but this particular owner thought that it wasn’t enough. So, in order to create the ultimate iteration of the Brio, the owner decided to swap the engine of his stock car with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated I-VTEC engine from a 2021 Honda City. He also made a ton of other modifications to his car, and the video detailing the list of mods has recently been shared online.
The video of the Honda Brio, with its engine swapped for a 1.5-liter engine, has been shared on YouTube by The Drivers Hub on their channel. Recently, the team shot with India’s first-ever Honda Brio, whose engine has been swapped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine from a 2021 Honda City. The video starts with the presenter giving a brief overview of the same.
The presenter in the video mentions that the owner of this particular Brio has modified this tiny hatchback for one specific thing: to obliterate its competition in the Autocross. He mentions that this Honda Brio was just 2 seconds behind a fully modified 400 hp Audi TT sports car in the GT Tunerz Autocross event that recently took place. He then mentions that the owner of this car has not only swapped its engine once but twice. He adds that first, the owner swapped the Brio’s stock 1.2-liter engine with his old Honda Jazz’s 1.5-liter engine and then, after that, he once again swapped that engine with a 2021 Honda City’s 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine.
Following this, he talks about the exterior appearance of the car and states that the owner of this car has painted it in a striking purple color. The interior, which has a roll cage, has been painted in Porsche’s iconic Ruby Star Metallic, which starts as the main highlight of this Brio and shows the swapped engine. He comes to the main highlight of this build, which is its 1.5-liter naturally aspirated I-VTEC petrol engine from a 2021 Honda City sedan. He mentions that at this point, the car is currently making around 137 hp.
He adds that 137 hp does not seem like much on paper, but when considering the weight of this car, it makes a whole lot of sense. The presenter states that the owner of this particular car has ditched most of the metal panels for fiberglass ones, and the rear glass is also not true glass; instead, it’s plexiglass to save weight. The presenter mentions that all of these changes have resulted in the car weighing just around 840 kgs, which is extremely light.
Moving on to more performance parts on this Brio, the presenter mentions that the owner of the car has also added a full custom stainless steel exhaust, and it also has a custom set of headers, making the car sound absolutely menacing. After this, the presenter adds that the owner has also given the car a BMC air filter and is also planning to add a new custom exhaust manifold to enhance the power figure even more.
After this, the presenter shows the interior of the car and mentions that all the seats and trims have been removed by the owner in the pursuit of saving weight. He mentions that it only has one Beltenick sports seat with an OMP five-point racing harness. Apart from that, the entire car is bare bones on the inside. He then starts the car and revs it to show how loud the car is. He takes the car out for a spin and immediately mentions that this car feels like a go-kart. He states that the car is a hoot to drive, and it drives so much better than a stock car.
