Kia Sonet Facelift to be unveiled on 14th December: Launch, bookings and price announcement details out
Kia has confirmed the launch of the facelifted version of its most affordable offering in India, the Sonet compact SUV, on 14th December. Launched initially in September 2020, the Kia Sonet has been on sale for three years, and the upcoming major facelift is aimed at introducing mild exterior and interior changes to maintain its momentum. Several leaked pictures of the Kia Sonet facelift have surfaced on the internet, providing a comprehensive look at the compact SUV’s revised appearance.
In the leaked images of the Kia Sonet facelift, minor exterior tweaks are evident. At the front, the new Sonet facelift showcases a modified grille with fresh hexagonal inserts and a satin chrome finish along its lower edge. Redesigned headlamps feature vertical extensions flowing downward from the outer lower edges. Similar to the new Seltos facelift, the Sonet facelift will sport all-LED headlamps with dynamic LED turn indicators.
The side profile of the new Kia Sonet facelift exhibits minimal changes, apart from varying designs of the alloy wheels depending on the variant. Moving to the rear, the facelifted Sonet boasts updated LED tail lamps with an LED connecting light bar, resembling the layout seen in the Kia Carens. Furthermore, revised front and rear bumpers with more prominent body cladding enhance the SUV’s rugged appearance. Roof rails, a shark fin antenna, and a single-pane sunroof remain consistent features.
Cabin remains under wraps
Although specific details regarding the interior of the upcoming Kia Sonet facelift are yet to be disclosed, one can expect refreshed upholstery and several new features, including a revised fully-digital instrument console, ADAS, and a powered driver’s seat. The new Sonet is anticipated to retain the current version’s equipment list, featuring ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto AC with rear AC vents, and more.
The powertrain lineup of the Kia Sonet facelift will remain consistent with the current version of the compact SUV available for sale. This means that the Sonet facelift will continue to offer two petrol and one diesel powertrain options. Lower and mid-spec variants will be equipped with the 1.2-litre 83 PS naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
On the other hand, mid-spec and higher-variants of the Sonet will feature the 1.0-litre 120 PS turbocharged petrol engine available with 6-speed iMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearboxes. Additionally, the 1.5-litre 115 PS diesel engine will also be offered with 6-speed iMT and 6-speed automatic transmission.
