Mahendra Singh Dhoni buys Mercedes Benz G63 AMG worth Rs 3.5 crore [Video]

The expansive car and motorcycle collection of former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not a secret. He recently added the Mercedes-AMG G63 performance SUV to his garage. The G63 AMG gets a price tag of Rs 3.3 crore, ex-showroom, which turns out to be about Rs 3.5 crore on-road.

Dhoni was spotted in the driver seat of his new car in a short clip. He loves to drive his own vehicles and is often spotted on the roads of Ranchi, Jharkhand. The new Mercedes-AMG G63 also gets a special “0007” registration number. Dhoni used to play cricket with the number “7” jersey.

Dhoni would lead the Chennai Superkings in the IPL this year. CSK won IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023.

The new Mercedes-AMG G63 has undergone significant changes and is being hailed as the best aerodynamically designed G-Wagen by Mercedes-Benz. It has become the preferred choice of many, including several Indian cricketers such as Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer. In India, only the G63 version is available, while the more powerful G65 version is offered in the international market.

Compared to its predecessor, the new G63 AMG features a slightly rounded shape while still retaining its signature boxy design, which sets it apart. It also sports a brand new headlamp cluster with full-LED setup, circular DRLs around the headlamps, and bonnet-mounted turn indicators. The Geländewagen DNA is preserved with visible door hinges on the sides as well as a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and flared wheel arches that contribute to its wide SUV look.

Equipped with 21-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels and boasting a ground clearance of 241mm, the Mercedes-AMG G63 is capable of off-roading, despite not being commonly used for such purposes.

Under the hood, the G63 is powered by a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 petrol engine, delivering an impressive 585 Bhp of power and a peak torque of 850 Nm. Mercedes-Benz has downsized the engine from the previous generation’s massive 5.5-litre V8.

The new version also features a 9-speed automatic transmission AMG SPEEDSHIFT, distributing power to all four wheels. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and is electronically limited to a top speed of 220 km/h. Owners can opt for the AMG Driver’s package, which increases the top speed to 240 km/h.
