Upcoming all-new Maruti Swift spotted on Indian roads before official launch [Video]

Suzuki has already unveiled the all-new fourth-generation Swift at the Tokyo Motor Show in November 2023. Given the Swift’s significance in India, Maruti Suzuki is actively working on the Indian-spec version of the fourth-gen Swift, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads. Recently, a video featuring a fully camouflaged test mule of the all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift went viral on social media platforms, suggesting an imminent launch of this new model.

Shared on Instagram by a user named Kiran Mohan, the video displays the rear profile of the fully camouflaged new Maruti Suzuki Swift. Though the car was completely wrapped in covers, a few discernible design elements confirm that the India-spec version will closely resemble the global-spec version revealed a few days ago.

The video highlights design elements such as revised rear bumpers and tail lamps, which feature inverted C-shaped motifs. Another spy picture of the test mule of the same car surfaced a few days earlier, showcasing the camouflaged Swift with a similar grille sporting rounded edges and more angular headlamps, resembling the globally unveiled version. The recent test mule was equipped with 15-inch black alloy wheels and conventional rear door handles, expected to be offered in the new version of the Swift.

Cabin details not out yet

While the spy pictures didn’t reveal the interior, the new fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is anticipated to showcase an entirely redesigned dashboard layout, aligning it with other new-generation models like the Baleno, Brezza, and Fronx. The updated dashboard features more angular designs for the AC vents and center console components, a new steering wheel and instrument console, a larger 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ infotainment system, and a wireless charger. The new Swift might offer six airbags in higher-spec versions, with a possibility of the top-spec variant being equipped with ADAS.

Globally, Suzuki has introduced the new fourth-gen Swift with an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series naturally-aspirated petrol engine, generating 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. While details are not entirely clear, Maruti Suzuki may launch the new Swift in India with this same engine, providing transmission choices of a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.

Expected to arrive ahead of the festive season next year, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is anticipated to come with slightly higher prices than the current models. It will continue to compete with cars like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Punch, and Citroen C3.
