Chef Pillai’s Story
Chef Pillai‘s success story began at the age of 17 as a waiter in a local restaurant. From there, he displayed his love, passion, and talent for the culinary arts. After being fueled by his love for cooking, he transitioned from serving tables to working in the kitchen.
This is where he diligently learned the fundamentals of cooking and polished his skills under the guidance of seasoned chefs. After working in the industry for a while, it led him to London, where he spent 15 years further mastering his craft in renowned restaurants.
Upon returning to India, Chef Pillai decided to bring his expertise and passion into entrepreneurship. In 2021, he launched his own restaurant venture, including popular establishments such as Restaurant Chef Pillai, Kothu Xpress, North Rasoi, and United Coconut restaurant chains. After this, he became a millionaire.
Chef Pillai’s First-Ever Car
However, despite his success, Chef Pillai remained grounded and humble. In an interview, he revealed that after years of relying on public transportation, he finally decided to treat himself to a luxury car.
So for this reason, he bought himself a German luxury sedan from Mercedes-Benz. The restaurateur bought the S-350d variant of this sedan for a whopping price of Rs 1.60 crore.
This luxury sedan comes powered by a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine. It generates a maximum power of 282 bhp and 600 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to an automatic transmission, and all the power is sent to the rear wheels.

He shared the pictures of himself taking delivery of his Mercedes-Benz S-Class on Instagram. In the post, he stated, “Dreams are meant to be chased and caught… In my 43 years of life, I have never owned even a cycle. I didn’t have a craze towards cars or driving. Even during my 15 years in London, when I could have gotten my hands on any good luxury vehicle, I never got one.”
He added, “Till this day I never felt the urge or need for it. But now with the hectic work schedule and the continuous travel, it is becoming tedious without a vehicle! So what next? Didn’t have to think twice – just went across the road to the showroom of the favorite of all – Mercedes-Benz S Class! Patience and hard work will definitely lead you to the doorway of your dreams one day.”
Chef Pillai also bought a Porsche Cayenne
Apart from buying the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Chef Pillai last year also bought himself his second luxury car. For this, he chose a brand-new Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV, which is priced at Rs 1.42 crore.
He bought himself the top-of-the-line Cayenne coupe variant, which is a very rare model. This unique SUV that features a coupe-like rear section comes powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged petrol engine. It generates a maximum power of 340 PS and 450 Nm of peak torque.
