Fortuner Leader Edition: Updates

First and foremost, the main differences on the Fortuner Leader Edition are on the outside. Unlike the standard Fortuner 4X2, this edition model now gets a dual-tone paint scheme. The top half is black, and the lower half can be had in three distinct colors.

The list of colors for the lower section includes Super White, Platinum Pearl White, and Silver Metallic. Apart from this dual-tone paint job, the Fortuner Leader Edition also gets gloss black alloy wheels. On the standard model, they come with a diamond-cut finish.

Other changes on the Fortuner Leader Edition include extensions for the front and rear bumpers. These extensions will be added to the SUVs at authorized dealerships. They have been designed to provide a more sporty appearance to the Fortuner.

Next up, the Leader Edition also gets a wireless charger and a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). In addition, the company is also offering a number of accessories with the Fortuner which can be bought from the authorized dealerships.

Fortuner Leader Edition Powertrain Options

As stated above, the Fortuner Leader Edition is only available with the 4X2 variant of the SUV. It will come powered by the standard 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine.

This time-tested reliable motor generates 201 Bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. The SUV is available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option.

In other Toyota Fortuner news, while announcing the launch of the Fortuner Leader Edition, the company revealed a huge milestone. It stated that the Fortuner, since its launch in 2009, has achieved 2,51,000 units of sales.

According to the company’s sales data, last month Toyota sold a total of 3,261 units of the Fortuner. The company in the same month last year managed to achieve sales of 3,108 units. This helped the brand in registering a decent growth of 17 percent on a year-on-year basis.

The Toyota Fortuner dwarfs each and every competitor that it has in India. Currently, its closest rival in India is the MG Gloster. However, in terms of sales, it doesn’t even come close to it.

According to MG’s sales tally in the month of March, it only sold a total of 131 units of the Gloster. This means that the Fortuner sales of 3,261 units are almost 25 times the sales of the Gloster.

2024 Ford Endeavour off-roading

This speaks volumes about the popularity of this SUV in India. The only worthy competitor of the Fortuner to ever come really close to it in terms of sales was the Ford Endeavour. Most likely, the new Endeavour will be launched in India.
