Hyundai Creta EV Spied Testing: Gets Styling Inspired By Facelifted Model [Video]

Hyundai has been testing its all-new electric vehicle, the Creta EV, for quite some time. The electric version of the popular SUV has been spotted testing several times. The SUV was spotted testing in India too, and we now have an idea of how the electric SUV will look and what it will offer in terms of features. In the latest spy video that has surfaced online, we get to see how the exterior of the upcoming EV from Hyundai will look.

The video has been shared by The Fat Biker on his YouTube channel. In this video, we see a test mule of the Hyundai Creta EV on Indian roads. The exterior design of the SUV is similar to the ICE version of the Creta. It is, in fact, similar to the current version of the regular Creta that is available in India.

We see the split LED DRLs and all-LED headlamps on the bumper of the SUV. It remains to be seen if the Creta EV will get the light bar that runs across the width of the bonnet. The test vehicle is completely covered. We do see a box in the lower part of the bumper, which means Creta will offer the ADAS feature with the Creta EV too.

The front grille is most likely to be closed to reduce drag and improve overall efficiency. We have seen that most EVs get closed front grilles. It remains to be seen whether the Creta EV will get any fog lamps or not. As we move to the side profile, the similarities with the current version of the Creta are more evident. The charging port is likely to be placed at the front.

The main differences here are the wheels. The Creta EV gets an aerodynamic design for the wheels, as this helps in reducing the drag, and the tires on the EV are also expected to be low-resistance units. As we move to the rear, we see the same LED tail lamps with an LED connecting bar. The design of the bumper is also similar to the regular Creta.

The video also gives us a glimpse of the interiors. The design of the steering wheel looks slightly different. It is similar to what we have seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 crossover. The Creta EV is not based on a brand-new EV platform. It is, in fact, using a modified version of Creta’s existing platform.

The Creta EV will use an external battery pack that will be mounted under the floor of the SUV. This is likely to affect the ground clearance of the Creta slightly. The Creta EV is expected to offer a 45 kWh battery pack, which is likely to be made by Exide for Hyundai. The electric motor is expected to be borrowed from the Kona EV.

Hyundai Creta is likely to be offered with a single motor option only. The platform doesn’t support a dual-motor or AWD setup, and making such modifications is not likely to be feasible for Hyundai.

The Hyundai Creta EV is expected to be launched in the market next year and will compete with upcoming EVs like the Tata Harrier EV, Tata Curvv, Maruti eVX, and so on. The Creta EV is expected to be priced somewhere between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 28 lakh.
